We source our organic Fairtrade cumin seeds from Uzbekistan. The fields and gardens are largely organic and Fairtrade certified and are managed by the Fairtrade farmers who live there. The farmers belong to a large Fairtrade community made up of 3 groups, Dustkul Bogi, Turkiston Gulba and Turob Bobo. They include around 1,000 individual farmers, along with their families. Thanks to the cooperation with Fairtrade, the farmers can offer their families a secure income and their children a new perspective.

    Product Highlights

Cumin is one of the oldest spices! The first evidence of this dates back to 3000 BC. The cumin seeds are spices and medicinal plants at the same time.

Cumin is used a lot, especially in Greek, Turkish and Mexican dishes.

The essential oils contained are decisive for its characteristic and pleasant taste and smell. These oils contain cuminaldehyde, which in turn is often used in perfumes and is said to have antibacterial properties. Furthermore, the cuminaldehyde can stimulate our own production of juices in the digestive tract and thus have a positive effect on our digestion.

    Applications & Uses

    Drying

After the manual harvest, the cumin seeds are sorted and then gently dried with the help of the sun. The solar drying method used is very environmentally friendly and gentle on the product.
