Why adjust the cation-anion balance [DCAB: (Na+K)-(Cl+S)] with acidic salts?
- High potassium content in the grass silage, especially in the first cuts, sometimes > 30 g/kg DM
- Inhibited calcium mobilization from bone
- Rising risk of milk fever
- Subclinical paresis causes costs (at least €200 per cow for treatment, reduced milk yield, longer guest periods,...)
