Lipomize Astaxanthin and hyaluronic acid lipid complex

This formulation contains liposomes made of phosphatidylcholine from sunflower lecithin, hyaluronic acid and astaxanthin. The liposomal delivery system drives the active ingredient making it reach deeper layers of the skin. Astaxanthin is a powerful natural antioxidant, has anti-inflammatory activity, skin care activity and many other positive effects. Sodium hyaluronate is hydrophilic, meaning it easily mixes with water. When applied topically, it attracts moisture in skin cells. This reduces dryness and flaking, improves the appearance of wrinkles and soothes skin inflammation. Hydrolyzed sodium hyaluronate is hyaluronic acid that has been broken down into elements small enough to penetrate the skin and hydrate the layers below the surface. In the epidermis it is able to stimulate the production of hyaluronic acid of higher molecular weight.

Formulation

Incorporation: The liposomal active ingredients (AI) commercialized by Lipomize are liquid dispersions that can be mixed with the cream or gel matrix, in no more than a 5 or 10% respect to the final product. A higher percentage application could cause significant changes in the texture and/or viscosity of the matrix (noting that an important part of the liposomal dispersion given is water). Otherwise, a lower percentage application would naturally lead to a final product with a low concentration of AI transported in liposomes. Liposomes are entities relatively sensitive to temperature and oxidation, via direct sunlight and extended air exposure. Because of that, it is important to take into account the following comments:

1) It is preferred to incorporate the liposomal dispersion on the matrix in a last mixing stage at room temperature, prior to fractionating the product.
2) Keep the container with the liposomal dispersion open, as little time as possible.
3) Work away from direct sunlight.
In general a liposomal active ingredient can perfectly coexist with a non-liposomal active ingredient within a cream or a gel. However, it is strongly recommended that during the elaboration of the final product, THESE ACTIVE INGREDIENTS (liposomal and non-liposomal) NOT BE MIXED BEFORE, but that they be incorporated sequentially into the matrix, homogenizing correctly between one aggregate and another. The following figure outlines the possible situations.

For simplicity, the CORRECT PROCESS shows the liposomal AI/non-liposomal AI sequence, but the reverse sequence can also be used. The importance lies in the correct and complete homogenization between the addition of the different AIs.

Thermostability: Temperatures of up to 50 °C for a short time do not affect the stability of the product.
