- Health benefits vitamin D3
Vitamin D3 is one of the few vitamins our body can synthesize by itself. Its production is a complex process requiring exposure of skin to the sunlight. Other sources of vitamin D3 are sea food, meat and egg yolk. Vitamin D plays a vital role in the uptake and metabolism of calcium and phosphorus from our intestines. These processes help maintain healthy bones and teeth. The vitamin is therefore of importance for the formation of the skeleton in children. Furthermore, vitamin D helps lower the risk of falling that is linked to instability related to muscle weakness. This is especially relevant for elderly aged over 60, considering they have higher risks of bone fractures when they fall. Furthermore, vitamin D3 contributes to a normal function of the immune system, and helps to maintain normal muscle strength. Certain groups have higher vitamin D requirements, such as young children, elderly, pregnant women and people who are not often outside.
- The benefits of liposomal vitamin D3
Vitamin D3 does not dissolve in water but in fat. For the absorption of vitamin D3 it is therefore necessary that sufficient fat is present in the gastrointestinal tract. Liposomes consist of membranes made up of natural fats that also occur in the membranes of body cells. In our supplement, vitamin D3 is dissolved in the fat of the liposomes, which promotes proper absorption into the blood. Liposomes are also able to protect bioactive substances against premature degradation in the gastrointestinal tract. The combination of these benefits leads to a higher bioavailability of vitamin D3.
