Science
- The color of our skin is determined mainly by the amount, distribution and type of melanin, a pigment produced by melanocyte cells in a process called melanogenesis. Melanin synthesis takes place in melanosomes, which contain specific enzymes controlling the production ofthe pigmeThne first step of melanogenesis is mediated by tyrosinase, a key enzyme that catalyzes the first two reactions of melanin synthesis. Abnormal accumulation of melanin is responsible for hyperpigmentations, which could be a serious esthetic problem.
- Chromabright® molecule is a new brightening active which acts by inhibiting tyrosinase activity. It fulfills all the desirable qualities for an ideal skin brightener: exhibits a considerable lightening in vivo effect on the skin, has a completely safe profile, shows stability in formulations and possesses a photoprotective effect on human epidermal keratinocytes, helping to prevent the skin damage caused by UV radiation.
