Science
- Several anatomical features contribute to the esthetic concern of eyebags, being an excess in orbital fat one of the main contributors, especially in men. The lower eyelid is formed of three fat compartments, which protrude forward with age, causing visible bulges. The skin that supports these compartments also weakens, owing to reactions such as glycation. Besides, an increase in fluid buildup, caused by a high capillary permeability, may help increase under-eye puffiness as well.
- Under-eye darkness is mainly triggered by the presence of colored compounds coming from blood permeation, such as bilirubin, which become more visible with the high skin transparency caused by tissue deterioration.
- eyeseryl® peptide helps inhibit glycation, vascular permeability and lipid accumulation, suggesting an improvement of the under-eye region. A reduction in eyebags was observed on men and women, while an improvement in dark circles, elasticity and moisturization were obtained on women.
