Science : The skin receives oxygen from the atmosphere and from blood vessels to perform its biological functions. With age, cutaneous microcirculation decreases, which impairs oxygenation and creates a hypoxic environment. This leads to a dull and unhealthy skin appearance.
The hypoxia inducible factor alpha (HIF-a) senses oxygen content and helps the skin to adapt. In normal oxygenated environments, HIF-1a and HIF-2a are quickly degraded. Under hypoxia conditions, however, they accumulate in cells to activate the transcription of genes that enhance oxygenation. Scientists discovered an improved system of hypoxia adaptation in the Tibetan population. Specifically, a genetic downregulation of HIF-2a in combination with an upregulation of HIF-1a that allows cells to function despite hypoxia conditions.
Oxylance™ advanced botanical ingredient mimics the Tibetan adaptation to hypoxia on the skin, showing a higher expression of HIF-1a gene and lower expression of HIF-2a gene, which suggests better skin oxygenation. When applied on the skin of volunteers, it increased skin oxygen levels and improved the feeling of happiness, just like yoga. In addition, skin glow, wrinkles, and roughness were also improved, resulting ina visibly better overall appearance.

Achieving A “Yoga Skin” Look
84 women were divided into three groups. The first group applied a mist with 2% Oxylance™ advanced botanical ingredient and the second group applied a placebo mist on the face, twice a day for 28 days. The third group performed a single yoga session and did not apply any product.Yoga-Like Effect
