Luster-On manufactures a complete line of surface preparations and finishing processes for the metal finishing industry. Our name was originally derived from our bright chromate conversion process that added “luster” to cadmium and zinc plated surfaces.

We have come a long way since then. Today, we are still dedicated to exceptional metal finishing; however, we now differentiate ourselves with our team’s expertise and ingenuity in producing green plating products and processes that help to sustain the industry’s long-term environmentally clean viability. Even though we still offer hexavalent products, we now focus our innovation on non-hexavalent products and processes, delivering equal or better results than hexavalent counterparts.

Either way, Luster-On products all meet the requirements for durability, functionality and appearance demanded by industries including automotive, defense and electronics. Our new zinc processes, either acid or alkaline, are now safer and non-polluting. Our post-treatments enhance these exceptional metal finishing processes by also providing corrosion protection at an economical cost.

The process delivers exceptional corrosion protection at a low cost while forming an excellent base for paint, lacquer or rubber bonding. The coating can be applied by immersion, spray, brush, swab or roll coating.

Luster-On Products Luster-On Aluminescent is a powdered product used to form a non-hexavalent chromium conversion coating on aluminum surfaces. The coating can be applied by immersion, spray, brush, swab or roll coating.

Luster-On Products Luster-On Aluminescent TX is a thickened liquid product used to form a non-hexavalent conversion coating on aluminum and zinc-nickel alloy surfaces, where immersion of the part is not possible. It contains a thickener that enables it to be painted onto the surface being protected.

Luster-On Products Luster-On AS 990 is a heavy-metal-free sealant for Type II and Type III sulfuric acid anodized aluminum. Luster-On 990 seals both dyed and non-dyed anodized aluminum surfaces. Luster-On AS 990 has proven to perform better at lower cost than nickel acetate and hot-water seals.

Luster-On Products Luster-On AS 950 is a trivalent chromium-based sealant for Type II and Type III sulfuric acid anodized aluminum. It has shown to perform better at lower cost than nickel acetate and hot-water seals.

Luster-On Products Luster-On 224L is a liquid material producing a chromate conversion coating on aluminum and aluminum alloys. The product is suitable for both wrought and cast aluminum alloys. The solution can be rejuvenated by eliminating contaminants.
