Mallard Creek Polymers (MCP) is a privately held specialty chemical company headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. We started as a manufacturer of styrene-butadiene latex emulsion and have grown steadily through a combination of customer focus and strategic acquisitions. Today we offer a diverse family of water-based polymers. These span acrylic, nitrile, styrene-acrylic, styrene-butadiene, vinyl acetate, vinyl acrylic, and vinyl acetate-ethylene emulsions as well as a range of rheology modifiers.

MCP water-based polymers are used in a wide range of industries. Markets include adhesives, nonwovens, paint, specialty coatings, graphic arts, printing and packaging, textiles, carpet, sealants, construction, oil services, and paper. We continue to find new markets and applications for our customers domestically and internationally.

Rovene

Tychem is an anionic, carboxylated, styrene-butadiene copolymer alkali swellable thickener. This thickener is highly efficient and works in applications including high film build coatings, waterproofing membranes, and mastic adhesives.

Tykote 6160 is a flexible acrylic emulsion designed to provide a good balance of Cobb resistance, OGR, and MVTR properties from coatings made with it.
Films and coatings made from Tykote 6160 also have good flexibility. Tykote 6160 demonstrates the ability to be applied via all typical methods used to apply barrier coatings, including rod, blade, and flexo or gravure presses.

Tykote® 6160

Rovene 6026 is a styrene-acrylic emulsion polymer that can be formulated in multiple coating and paint applications. It provides a strong film at room temperature for use in low sheen interior flat wall paints. This product allows the formulator to minimize the level of coalescent. Rovene 6026 can also be used in outdoor landscaping coatings due to the adhesion characteristics and compatibility with iron oxide dispersions.

Rovene 4180 is a low VOC styrene-butadiene emulsion polymer that provides the ability to compound at high solids and in multiple application areas. It is recommended for use in automobile underbody and protective coatings, landscaping mulch coatings, paper saturation, laminations, water resistance coatings, and specialty nonwoven/textile applications.

Rovene 6023 is an all acrylic emulsion suggested as a polymer modifier for hydraulic cementitious mixtures for repair, basecoats for EIFS, decorative overlays and tile grouts or mortars. Addition of 5 - 15% (d/d Portland cement) improves flexibility, strength and water resistance.
Rovene 6023 in portland cement mixtures results in increased adhesion to most substrates, improved water resistance, increased flexural strength and good resistance to UV light. Rovene 6023 does not contain antifoam. The addition of an effective antifoam is generally required to avoid a high air content in the hydraulic cementitious mixture. Many antifoam products have been found effective at levels of 2.5% wet on wet by mass.

Rovene 4100 is a styrene-butadiene emulsion polymer recommended for use for boxboard coating, in some publication grade papers and in the adhesive industry. Rovene 4100 may be used in adhesive and paper coating applications where FDA clearance is needed.

Rovene 4220 is a non-carboxylated styrene-butadiene emulsion recommended for use in formulations directed at contact or cold seal applications. Rovene 4220 can also be used in architectural adhesives including many types of flooring adhesives and special contact adhesives.
Rovene 4220 can be used as a polychloroprene and natural latex extender if properly formulated. When working with Rovene 4220, it is important to remember that it may be tackified, thickened and blended with other non- carboxylated and carboxylated emulsions. This flexibility allows for the formulation of a wide variety of adhesives with custom performance properties.

Rovene 6104 is a very soft, film forming vehicle that provides good water and rub resistance for flexographic and gravure inks and overprint varnishes. Rovene 6104 can be used as the film forming component in overprint varnish formulations or as the sole vehicle for inks and overprint varnishes providing good gloss. The emulsion can also be used as the non-skid component in formulations. Because of the low glass transition temperature, Rovene 6104 has good adhesion to treated flexible films. Inks and overprint varnishes formulated with Rovene 6104 can be formulated with graphic arts industry standard products and additives.

Rovene 6502 is a high solids, acrylic emulsion designed for formulation of PSA and packaging adhesives It can be used neat or blended with a variety of polymer emulsions, dispersed tackifiers, and fillers to yield performance characteristics that meet specific requirements. Rovene 6502 may also have application in vinyl flooring adhesives due to its plasticizer migration resistance.

Ecronova 6630 is an ambient cure all acrylic emulsion that provides good chemical and blocking resistance, high hardness and scratch resistance as well as good wetting of wooden substrates especially for furniture and industrial coatings. This emulsion is OH-functional (1.8%) and can function both as a one or two component system and is APE free.

BarrierPro 4550 is a general purpose styrene-butadiene emulsion polymer of medium stiffness. It dries to form a flexible, tough film of high water resistance.
BarrierPro 4550 can be compounded with fillers and other additives to form coatings for a variety of applications such as water proofing membranes, specialty paints and sealants.

BarrierPro 4551 is a carboxylated styrene-butadiene emulsion with excellent strength properties, high resistance to liquid water and water vapor, high blush resistance and excellent adhesion to multiple construction substrates.
BarrierPro 4551 has excellent stability with dry-add inorganic fillers and sets quickly into a low tack, high strength, water resistant film. BarrierPro 4551 is also a good base polymer for blending with other BarrierPro products to allow a membrane to be custom tailored to a specific strength and/or flexibility need.

BarrierPro 4555 is a styrene-butadiene emulsion polymer of low stiffness. It dries to form a soft but tough film. Its softness makes it excellent for water proofing where films must remain flexible at below-freezing temperatures.
