Technical Characteristics

Malech is a micronized acrylic resin based primer in water dispersion that, once applied on the surface, penetrates better than traditional water based primers. Malech is odorless and solvent free, therefore can be applied in close or poorly ventilated environments. Because of Malech’s formulation, it ensures the consolidation of chalk present on surfaces that need to be treated. Thanks to Malech’s deep penetration into the surface, it slows down the formation of efflorescence.

Applications & Uses

Application Method
Compatible Substrates & Surfaces
Where to Use
  • Malech is used as a primer for wall surfaces in general (e.g. concrete or repairs with cement mortars) before applying a colored finishing coat from the Elastocolor, Quarzolite and Colorite range, used as regulator of substrate absorption and as adhesion promoter.
  • Malech can also be used in the Aquaflex System cycle for permanent encapsulation of asbestos as a primer for covering layers of Aquaflex.
Some Application Examples
  • As a primer on well cured new or old renders as long as they are not damaged, before applying a colored finishing coat of Elastocolor, Quarzolite or Colorite range product.
  • As a primer over old paint, even if slightly chalky, before applying Elastocolor, Quarzolite or Colorite colored finishing coat.
  • As a primer on surfaces that need to be treated in enclosed or poorly ventilated environments because Malech is odorless, before applying a product from Elastocolor, Quarzolite or Colorite ranges.
Recommendations
  • Do not use Malech on metal surfaces.
  • Do not apply Malech on wet surfaces.
  • Do not apply Malech at temperatures below +5°C.
Application Procedure

Preparing the substrate

New surfaces that need to be treated or small repairs with repair mortars must be cured, perfectly clean, sound and dry. Remove from the surface all traces of oil or grease and any loose material that is not perfectly bonded. Seal any cracks and repair deteriorated surfaces. Seal any porous sections and level any uneven parts of the substrate.

Preparing the product

Malech is ready-to-use. It is recommend to thin Malech up to 50% with water in order to avoid the vitrification of substrates that are not very absorbent.

Applying the product

Mix Malech before use and apply it with a brush, roller or spray. Protect from pouring rain for at least 12 hours. Malech can be painted after 12-24 hours depending on the environmental conditions.

Cleaning

Brushes, rollers or spraying equipment (airless) should be cleaned with water before Malech dries.

Consumption

0,10-0,15 kg/m² depending on the porosity of the substrate.
