About METTON Liquid Molding Resin
METTON Liquid Molding Resin is a RIM process (Reaction Injection Molding) where a low-viscosity liquid is injected into a closed mold to produce plastic parts with consistent dimensions, thickness, weight and quality. The mechanical properties are similar to engineering thermoplastics such as PC/ABS, with high impact strength and excellent adhesion to paints and adhesives.
Design freedom and integrated functionality are benefits that help replace traditional materials such as FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic), SMC (sheet molding compound), wood and metal. Having a viscosity similar to motor oil means that internal mold pressures are very low, which keeps the costs down for the necessary molding equipment versus processes such as injection molding. Due to the low viscosity, it is possible to mold very large parts in the size range of 120 ft² (9 m²), or injection sizes as large as 150 pounds (70 kg) or more. Large parts with very high impact strength are a hallmark of METTON Liquid Molding Resin.
