Directions

Note: Test a small area of the carpet to be cleaned with a towel dampened with shampoo to make sure the color is fast.

  1. Vacuum the carpet to remove all surface dirt and to raise the pile.
  2. Dilute 8 oz. (1 cup) shampoo for each gallon of warm water. Mix the solution well and pour it into the tank of the machine. For foam carpet machines dilute 16 oz. (2 cups) shampoo for each gallon of water.
  3. If the brush is dry, begin shampooing with the wheels of the machine down. This allows better control until the carpet and brush begin to be slippery with foam. Raise the wheels of the machine and continue shampooing being careful not to use excess solution and soak the carpet.
  4. When approximately 50 sq. ft. have been covered, stop shampooing. Pick up excess moisture with a wet vac and set the pile in one direction with a pile brush.
  5. Continue shampooing as described above until entire area has been completed.
  6. Make sure that adequate ventilation is provided to promote quick drying.
  7. If it is necessary to replace furniture before carpet is completely dry, use carpet protectors under all legs to prevent rust and varnish stains.
  8. When carpet is completely dry, vacuum to remove any dried foam which may remain.
  9. To clean upholstery, use 16 oz. (2 cups) for each gallon of warm water and use foam only when cleaning.
