It is rich in free amino acids and polypeptides which encourages certain insects to feed upon the spray residues. Nu-Lure is designed to be combined with suitable insecticides as a spray mix additive and functions by attracting the insects to the insecticide to which it is added. Nu-Lure Insect Bait is used to increase the efficiency of insecticide sprays applied for the control of: Mediterranean Fruit Flies, Carribean Fruit Flies, Mexican Fruit Flies, Oriental Fruit Flies, Malaysian Fruit Flies, Apple Maggot Flies, Cherry Fruit Flies, Blueberry MaggotFlies, Walnut Husk Flies, Melon Flies, OliveFlies, Onion Maggot and most other fruit fly species.

General Information
  • NU-LURE Insect Bait is a proteinaceous liquid, derived from corn and designed for use as an attractant and bait in insecticide sprays. It is rich in free amino acids and polypeptides which encourages certain insects, especially the females, to feed upon the spray residue.
  • NU-LURE Insect Bait does not contain a pesticide. It is to be combined with suitable insecticides as a spray mix additive and functions by attracting the insects to the insecticide to which it is added.
  • NU-LURE Insect Bait at full strength has good keeping quality due to the preservation action of salt (sodium chloride) formed during manufacture. Some gas formation may occur during extended storage. The presence of suspended insolubles is normal and particle size is small enough not to cause nozzle clogging problems.
  • NU-LURE Insect Bait is not damaged by freezing temperatures.
  • NU-LURE Insect Bait is water soluble and applications should not be made if rain is expected within 24 hours. Miller NU FILM 17 (sticker-extender) can be used to reduce rain loss of the bait and insecticide and slow degradation of insecticides in spray residues
Directions For Use
  • Use NU-LURE Insect Bait to increase the efficiency of insecticide sprays applied for the control of: Mediterranean Fruit Fly, Carribean Fruit Fly, Mexican Fruit Fly, Oriental Fruit Fly, Malaysian Fruit Fly, Apple Maggot Fly, Cherry Fruit Fly, Blueberry Maggot Fly, Walnut Husk Fly, Melon Fly, Olive Fly, Onion Maggot and most other fruit flies. Apply the bait spray to host crops, trees, bushes or other plants and surrounding vegetation. Area wide treatments are much more effective than small area or small orchard treatments. Some perimeter treatments have been used with success. Host plants include, but are not limited to the following fruits and nuts: Apple, Apricot, Blueberry, Cherry, Citrus, Coffee, Fig, Grape, Guava, Kiwi, Mango, Melons, Nectarine, Peach, Pear, Plum, Strawberry, Tomato, and Walnut.
  • Begin spray applications as soon as adult flies begin to emerge and continue applications on a 7 to 10 day schedule until fruit is harvested. Last application before harvest should be determined by the pre-harvest interval limitation of the insecticide being used. RATE: Apply 1 to 3 pints of NU-LURE Insect Bait per acre in 1 to 3 gallons of water per acre by aircraft or 10 to 40 gallons of water per acre by ground sprayer (1.25 to 2.5 liters of NU-LURE Insect Bait per hectare in 10 to 40 liters of water per hectare by aircraft or 100 to 400 liters of water per hectare by ground sprayer) in combination with a suitable insecticide. On large trees, where dilute sprays are applied, use the higher rate per acre.
  • INSECTICIDES: Malathion, Orthene®, Azinphos Methyl, lmidan® and Carbaryl insecticides have proven satisfactory with NU-LURE Insect Bait. On crops where use of these insecticides is not satisfactory, use with approved insecticides.
  • CAUTION: The effectiveness of NU-LURE Insect Bait may be decreased or slowed when applied over copper spray residues or in tank mix applications with copper fungicides.
  • MIXING: NU-LURE Insect Bait should be added into the spray mixture during the final stages of tank filling, with good agitation. Maintain agitation during spraying to assure uniform application. Spray mixtures allowed to stand without agitation should be reagitated prior to loading or spraying. With some waters and insecticide formulations, foaming can be a problem. If foaming occurs, use Miller FOAM FIGHTER to solve this problem.
