Devil`s claw, which is also called '天授根', is a rare plant growing in Kalahari Desert of South Africa. Thorns of it has hooks like a fich hook, which resulting in seriously hurting animal. Together with the thorns, its shape seems like a strange claw, so it had gotten the name, 'Devil's claw.' South African natives used the chopped and dried roots of it in the deep ground as a tea or traditional medicine. Nowadays, there have already been a medicine for treating arthritis using Devil's claw. Also, it is being used as an anti-inflammatory or anti-ulcer agent or pain killer.
