Natrochem Extra Hard Pitch

Natrochem Extra Hard Pitch is a thermoplastic, acidic resin. It has a high softening point and amber color, and is a product of the naval stores industry obtained during the separation and refining of resins and terpenes extracted from pinewood. Extra Hard Pitch is composed of rosin-type resin acids, oxidized and modified forms of these resins, and neutral and colored constituents associated with dark rosin. Extra Hard Pitch is suggested as a close replacement for gum rosin type products.

Typical Uses

Extra Hard Pitch contains acid functionality and can be reacted materials such as alkali and lime. It also reacts with metals maleic anhydride and polyhydric alcohols. Resultant products are soaps, resinates, and ester-type low molecular weight resins.
