Tarene 14 is a low-cost, dark, non-staining, thermoplastic oleo-resinous product having a naval stores base. The performance properties are comparable to, or superior to, pine tar. Tarene 14 finds its widest application as plasticizer, tackifier, and processing aid in rubber compounding. Other potential uses include adhesives, tar modifications, epoxy extension, coatings, mastics, and use as a low cost acid for emulsions.
