- Structure of Collagen Fiber
Collagen occupies the most important role among the structural proteins of our body . It consists of long protein chains that wind up three to three to form a very robust and compact triple helix structure. Collagen fibers are the main constituent of connective tissue that plays a structural role in protecting and supporting tissues.

- Essential collagen, Marine origin
The processed collagens used in cosmetic formulations, shampoos and conditioners are primarily used in for their film-forming, substantive plumping and humectant (moisturizing) properties.
The word collagen comes from two Greek terms: kolla meaning “glue” and gen meaning “producing.”
It makes sense that collagen has glue-like properties considering the role it plays in biology. It is a type of connective tissue that helps other structures “stick” together.
In skin, collagen is part of the matrix that keeps it firm and plump and most people know that when skin loses collagen, wrinkles are developed.
With NaturCol and its marine soluble collagen molecules, a hydrating film is built on the skin surface, fine lines are smoothed out and make skin more even.
- Uses and Dosage
NaturCol is used for skin care products. NaturCol should be processed below 30ºC and incorporated into the aqueous phase of a cosmetic formulation. It is incompatible with quats.
For skin care preparations, the addition of 1 to 5% NaturCol is recommended.
