Norplex-Micarta is a leading manufacturer of high performance thermoset composite materials based on impregnation and lamination technology. Norplex-Micarta manufactures the highest quality specialty sheet products, prepregs, rods, molded shapes, and tubes to meet demanding applications for OEMs and fabricators around the world. The global headquarters of Norplex-Micarta is located in Postville, Iowa, USA. To support the demand for thermoset composite materials in Asia, the Company also operates a facility in Changzhou, Jiangsu, P.R. China. Norplex-Micarta produces sheets, tubes, rods, and other specialty molded shapes for thousands of different applications in dozens of different industries.&nbsp; The Postville, Iowa facility is equipped with a variety of impregnation and downstream equipment to serve the varied needs of the industrial market. Prepreg can be produced on either horizontal or vertical machines as required to match the requirements of the fabrication process. Norplex-Micarta processes sheets and stock shapes internally.&nbsp; Sheets are regularly produced at 6 inches (150 mm) thick, and several materials can be produced as a monolithic sheet as thick as 12 inches (300 mm). Tubes are produced on IDs ranging from 0.094 inches (2.3 mm) to 48 inches (1.2 meters) on specially built mandrels. These materials are generally further processed by firms that specialize in the machining, punching, or other stock removal fabrication process.

NP630 is a fine machining grade with excellent electrical properties and moisture resistance. It has low cold flow with good dimensional stability.

Norplex-Micarta NP630

NP338 is a combination of two Norplex-Micarta grades, NP310 which is a canvas phenolic, on one side of the laminate, and NP315, a canvas phenolic with graphite added as a solid lubricant on the other side of the laminate. NP338 is ideal for applications requiring high impact strength and low coefficient of friction such as railway couplers. Material is conductive to electricity and should not be used where conductivity is detrimental to the application.

Being a hot oil treated version of RT310, RT310S is a tube made from a medium weight canvas fabric combined with a phenolic resin that has good physical properties and machining characteristics. Typical applications include textile bobbins, lap spools and structural parts that require good impact strength. RT310S also complies with MIL-I-24768/16, Type FBM and ASTM D709 Type II Grade C.

Lower cost paper phenolic NEMA Grade XP. NP660 uses natural kraft paper without pigmented cover sheet. It is a warm to hot punching material. It is available in natural and black only, without a pigmented cover, only. Certification to IEC standard is pending.

Phenolic resin combined with spun nylon fabric. Good impact strength and excellent electrical properties under high humidity conditions.

Norplex-Micarta NP101

NP572 is a high strength, medium weave glass epoxy laminate that retains a minimum of 50 percent of its room temperature flexural strength when tested at 150ºC and its Tg is guaranteed to be 180°C or greater. Typical applications include electrical equipment subjected to elevated temperatures. NP572 is certifiable to IEC 60216-3, IEEE STD 98-2002 and ASTM D2304 for Class H insulation in electrical devices. NP572 is also certifiable to MIL-I-24768/3, Type GEB.

NP500CR (commonly referred to as G10 CR) consists of a glass fabric with an epoxy resin system resulting in excellent electrical characteristics and superior physical properties at cryogenic temperatures (-270 °C to 135 °C operating temperature range). Previously designated as Westinghouse/International Paper Micarta Cryogenic Grade 56 G12, it has low thermal conductivity and utilizes chemistry specifically designed for cryogenic applications.

Being a heat treated version of RT310, RT310H is a tube made from a medium weight canvas fabric combined with a phenolic resin that has good physical properties and machining characteristics. Typical applications include textile bobbins, lap spools and structural parts that require good impact strength. RT310H also complies with MIL-I-24768/16, Type FBM and ASTM D709 Type II Grade C. Certification to IEC standard is pending.

Woven glass fabric, melamine resin laminate. NP509 is very hard, flame resistant, machining grade with excellent electrical properties in high humidity conditions. NP509 has high physical strength and excellent arc resistance. Meets MIL-I-24768/1 type GME, MIL-I-24768/8 type GMG and IEC 60893-3-3-MF GC 201.

NP193PM is composed of a 17 oz. aramid and "soft glass" fibers are combined to make a fabric that is stronger than pure aramid and less abrasive than glass fabrics. This material is impregnated with a high temperature phenolic resin matrix which includes a non-conducting solid lubricant. This composite has excellent mechanical strength at elevated temperatures and adverse environments. Applications include wear plates for conveyor systems, valve plates, and compressor and pump vanes.
