Product Highlights

Nutech Paint GP Primer is a general-purpose primer designed to adhere to a wide range of roof surfaces including smooth, glossy and rough cement roof tiles. Formulated from high-quality adhesion promoted acrylic resins GP Primer is ideally suited as a filler coat on very rough cement tiles because of its high solids content, improving the gloss appearance and coverage of all Nutech topcoats systems. GP Primer is not recommended for oxidized and powdery tiles.

Typical Applications
  • GP Primer is recommended as an undercoat cement tiles, painted surfaces, new tiles.
  • GP Primer is a high solids adhesion undercoat recommended for NuFlex, TileFlex and Colourfast topcoat systems.
  • Domestic & multi density residential, industrial and commercial roofs where a high film build, or improved adhesion properties are required.
Coverage
  • Smooth Surface - 6m2/L per coat
  • Rough Surface - 4m2/L per coat
  • Note - Coverage will depend on the porosity and roughness of the surface.
  • To maximize performance do not over spread.
Substrates

Smooth, glossy and rough cement roof tiles, porous concrete and cinder block walls, lightweight concrete panels, tilt slab concrete walls, concrete render stucco and stucco-type wall finishes.

Conditions Prior to Painting
  • Only apply between 10°C and 30°C ambient air temperatures.
  • Ensure no surface moisture is present prior to application.
  • Consideration must be given to other climatic conditions such as wind and relative humidity.
  • Do not apply topcoat until the primer is completely dry.
  • Do not apply GP Primer in very cold conditions.
  • Do not apply to extremely hot surfaces.
  • Failure to observe these provisions may affect coating adhesion.
Test Patch

Conduct a small test patch in an inconspicuous area to ensure adequate product performance, substrate porosity and provide an indication of the amount of product required to complete the project.

Mixing/Thinning
  • Prior to Commencement - Stir thoroughly prior to use.
  • Dilution - Not recommended or required
Application Equipment
  • Airless spray (Recommended)
  • Spray tip size is 523 - 525
  • Brush, Roller
Preparation
  • All surfaces must be clean from moss and lichen.
  • Refer to Nutech Hypo OR Nutech MossRid.
  • High pressure clean using a minimum of 3000psi
  • Allow surface to dry thoroughly
  • Improperly prepared surfaces may result in coating failure
Application Procedure

Prior to coating:

  • In cold weather, new tile pointing must be adequately cure
  • Weather conditions must be favorable as rain, moisture or dew may cause damage
  • Do not apply in extreme heat

Observing dry times and application spread rates, spray apply 1 even consistent coat making sure fan pattern correctly overlaps.
