Nuwen AlgaliThe – The Robust Algae mainly grow in Atlantic and in North sea, all along Brittany coasts. When fossilized, this red algae turns to beige/brown color and it is then harvest on the ocean floor, in specific areas. Algale is sorted, dried and micronized in order to obtain an ultrafine (32μm) and pure powder. Algalithe is obtained from fossilized red macro-algae Phymatolithon calcareum, better known as Lithothamnion calcareum. This micronized powder owns unique structure and composition offering multiple use in your formulations.

Nuwen Algalithe – The robust algae

Nuwen Chlorella is a unicellular micro alga living either in sea or clear water. Chlorella appears on earth 1,5 to 2 billion years ago. It naturally grows in lakes and pond all over the world. Chlorella size is comprised between 2 and 10 microns, which smaller that a red blood cell. It shows a green color and a round shape at microscopic examination.

Nuwen Collagen is the most abundant protein in the whole body structure. The elasticity, the regeneration of cells and cohesion of tissues are handled by this protein. Unfortunately, it tends to decrease with age. This marine collagen is obtained by enzymatic hydrolysis of fish skins.

Nuwen Clays have always been used by man to cleanse and beautify the skin. Their remarkable properties are used to disinfect, soothe pain and even heal wounds. NUWEN offers four variations of clay: white, red, pink and green. Each clay is applicable to all skin types. It gently helps to purify and restores radiance to the skin. Clay is a natural raw material, very well tolerated by the skin.​.

Nuwen Fucus – The Algal Shield belongs to the brown alga family, and grows in northern seas. This alga lives 50 of the time out of the water and is submerged the other half of the time. It is therefore subject to high temperature and salinity variations.

Nuwen Dulse – The Rich Alga grows in the intertidal zone, between 0 and 15 meters deep. It could be found in rocky areas and could grow as epiphytes on some other seaweeds such as Laminaria. Dulse proposed by NUWEN is exclusively coming from resources harvested on Brittany coasts. Dulse belongs to the red algae family, and grows in northern seas.

Nuwen Laminaria japonica size could reach 4 to 6 meters (up to 10 meters in optimal growth conditions). Its naturally growths along north Japanese coasts all the way to the Kamchatka peninsula. Laminaria japonica belongs to the brown algae family and is better known as Kombu which means « happiness » in Japanese.

Nuwen Lichen is manually harvested, at low tide from May to October. A short sun exposition turns the alga’s color to white. Once totally dried, Irish moss becomes very hard. Chondrus crispus, commonly named Irish moss or white seaweed, is a red alga that belongs to the Rhodophycees family. Its length could reach 10 to 20 cm. Its name is directly linked to its natural aspect, as crispus means « curly » in Latin.

Nuwen Sea Lettuce grows in shallow waters, which encourages chlorophyll synthesis, thanks to a great light exposition. The intense green color of Sea lettuce is linked to its high chlorophyll concentration. This alga is tolerant towards pollution and industrial effluents, which can explain why it grows close to human activity areas, such as marine port for example.Ulva sp. includes a set of algae with similar macroscopic features. Ulva lactuca is part of this family and is widely present in Brittany. Ulva sp is also commonly named Sea lettuce'.
