Applications & Uses

Application Technique
Application
  • Kills larval stages of insects. Tank mix with adulticide to kill both adults and larvae.
  • Spray directly at insect for maximum effectiveness.
  • Apply in early to mid-morning or late afternoon.
  • This is especially important with whitefly adults which are typically sedentary on the undersides of leaves at this time.
  • Make a minimum of two applications, 5 to 7 days apart.
  • Maintain Azatin XL in a diluted solution at pH between 3-7 and apply soon after preparation.
  • For best results use a spreader sticker at the labeled rates.

Mode Of Action

Azatin XL interferes with the key molting hormone, ecdysone, which prevents insects from progressing from one life stage to the next.

This product controls targeted insect larvae when they ingest or come in contact with it, by interfering with the insect’s ability to molt. It is effective on all larval stages and pupae. It also reduces crop damage by repelling and deterring feeding of all stages of insects.

Use Sites

Azatin XL may be used indoors, outdoors, in greenhouses, nurseries, and in interiorscapes. Plants may be potted, grown in the soil or in soil-less mixtures, or grown hydroponically.

Azatin XL may be used on the following crops:

  • Bedding plants, flowering plants and foliage
  • Woody ornamentals
  • Trees and shrubs
  • Citrus, pome and stone fruits
  • Cucurbit vegetables
  • Nuts
  • Bulb, cole and leafy vegetables
  • Legumes and fruiting vegetables
  • Root and tuber vegetables
  • Small fruits and vegetables
  • Herbs and spices
Application Rates

Foliar spray: Spray Azatin XL on a preventative 7-day schedule or at the first sign of insect presence. Foliar spray rates range from 5 to 16 oz. per 100 gallons of water, depending on target insect.

Drench: For drench applications, use Azatin XL at the rate of 8 oz. per 100 gallons of water. Apply Azatin XL in sufficient water and for sufficient duration to distribute evenly to entire treated area.

Apply to moderately moist soils using volumes that thoroughly wet the soil but do not cause significant runoff or drip from pots.

Tank Mixing

Azatin XL user should adhere to any applicable restrictions on the tank mix product. If the compatibility of tank mix partners is unknown, mixing a small amount of the products in a clear jar is advised prior to mixing a large tank.

Technical Details & Test Data

Compatibility

Perform a compatibility test before tank mixing this product with other product(s) or liquid fertilizer(s). Fill three separate 1 quart jars with 1 pint of water and fertilizer. To a first jar add this product and mix well. To a second jar, add the desired other tank mix product(s) and mix well. To a third jar, combine this product with the other tank mix product(s) and mix well. If more than one product is used, add them separately with dry formulations first, flowables next, and emulsifiable concentrates last. After each addition, shake or stir gently to thoroughly mix. For the appropriate amount of product for this test use the following:

  • DRY PRODUCTS - For each pound to be applied per acre, add 1.5 level teaspoons to each jar.
  • LIQUID PRODUCTS - For each pint to be applied per acre, add 0.5 teaspoons or 2.5 ml to each jar.

Note any differences between the mixtures in the jars (compounds alone vs mixtures) after 15 minutes. Look for evidence of physical incompatibility such as clumping, precipitation, oily residues on the sides of the glass or other signs of incompatibility. If either mixture separates, but can be readily re-mixed, the mixture can be sprayed as long as good agitation is used. If the mixtures are incompatible, do not use the mixture.

Safety & Health

Personal Protective Equipment (Ppe)

Applicators and other handlers must wear:
