General Information

Brush Off is a general purpose herbicide for control of gorse, broom, blackberry, old mans beard and other brushweeds. It does not damage grass. After spraying, poisonous plants may become more palatable to stock and livestock should be kept off the area until the plants have died down. Clovers will be damaged at brushweed rates. Avoid contamination of waterways by only applying when these areas are dry.

Gorse and Broom Seedlings 200 - 300ml 200ml 100 - 200ml 10 5 3 Apply during soft active growth (post flowering, November to February). Best results when plants are less than 2m high and stems are less than 3cm in diameter. Use for desiccation 3 - 4 months prior to best burning months. Apply after seedling is passed the cotyledon stage and while actively growing. The use of a suitable organosilicone penetrant such as Silmaxx™ or Synergy Penetrant is recommended at 100ml/100 liters. For aerial application, apply penetrant at 2L/ha.
Blackberry 300 - 600ml 10 Apply during summer and early autumn when plants are actively growing. Remove the canes the following spring by burning, crushing or slashing. Follow up treatment may be required for regrowth. Note: Some species of blackberry in Northland and the East Coast of the North Island are not well controlled. The use of a suitable organosilicone penetrant such as Silmaxx or Synergy Penetrant is recommended at 50ml/100 liters. Use the higher rates for control of hard grazed and lower growing types.
Lupin 150ml 3 Apply during active growth from spring until late summer. The use of a suitable organosilicone penetrant such as Silmaxx or Synergy Penetrant is recommended at 30ml/100 liters.
Sweet Briar 500ml   Apply from late flowering to early leaf yellowing. The use of a suitable organosilicone penetrant such as Silmaxx or Synergy Penetrant is recommended at 30ml/100 liters.

Note: Apply when the plants are actively growing.

TURFGRASS: For control of creeping oxalis, hydrocotyl and some other broadleaf weeds in turf, use 2 liters of Brush Off per hectare. Some burning may occur to fine turf grasses. Do not use clippings from treated areas for compost or mulch for 6 months after application.

Application Methods

Gun: Ensure full coverage of foliage and stems. Do not use spray pressures less than 1000kPa or greater than 2000kPa. Stump Swabbing: For control of barberry, hawthorn, wooly nightshade, wattle, willow, gorse and broom. Mix 1 part of Brush Off with 20 parts of water or diesel. Liberally apply to freshly cut surface and stems down to ground level with a paint brush or knapsack. If using diesel, agitate while filling and during use. Knapsack: Add 6mls Brush Off per liter of water. Add Synergy™ Penetrant or Silmaxx™ at 10ml per 10 liters water.

Mixing

Half fill the spray tank with water. Add the measured quantity of Brush Off, and agitate while adding the remainder of water.

Resistance Management

Brush Off contains the active ingredient triclopyr, which belongs to the pyridine carboxylic acid chemical family. Some naturally occurring weeds may become resistant when excessive use of the same herbicide occurs. To prevent or delay the development of resistance, use in tank mixes and/or rotate use with herbicides with a different mode of action. Consult http://resistance.nzpps.org/index.php for alternative modes of action and details of resistance management strategies (if any) for the uses listed on the label.
