Identification & Functionality

Features & Benefits

Product Information

A selective herbicide for control of certain broadleafweeds in CHICORY, CLOVER, LUCERNE, MAIZE and PASTURE. ACTIVE INGREDIENT: 800/kg flumetsulam in the form of a water dispersible granule.

General Information

Synergy Flumet 800 is a selective herbicide that will control or suppress a range of broadleaf weeds in pasture and other crops. Whilst being effective on a range of broadleaf weeds, when used as directed, Synergy Flumet 800 is safe to clover, as well as to chicory and lucerne. Synergy Flumet 800 works best when weeds are actively growing. Avoid use in cold or wet conditions. Established Pasture: Synergy Flumet 800 can be applied in either spring or autumn for buttercup control. Repeat spring treatments for two successive seasons will maximize control of giant buttercup.

Applications & Uses

Spillage

Exclude non-essential people from the area. Wear protective clothing. Moisten to prevent dusting and sweep up. Place in a waste container. Dispose of safely to a suitable landfill.

Directions For Use

Always apply Synergy Flumet 800 with a spraying oil such as Synoil™ at 500mL per 100 liters of spray mix (unless it is specifically recommended not to do so – see ‘Compatibility’ section below).

Application Rate

Rate g/ha Weeds Controlled Critical Comments
30 Chickweed, Spurrey, Wild Radish, Hedge Mustard Apply before 4th leaf
50 Amaranthus (Redroot), Cleavers, Black Nightshade, Fathen, Shepherds Purse, Mallow Annual Buttercup, Creeping Yellow Cress, Yellow Gromwell Apply before 4th leaf Apply before flowering
65 Larger weeds (above) Stinking Mayweed, Wireweed, Sorrel Field Pansy, Henbit, Willow Weed, Oxeye Daisy Giant Buttercup Apply to young seedlings Apply to young seedlings (suppression only) Apply before flowering

Application Timing

Crop Crop Growth Stage
New Pasture Use after clover has developed 2 trifoliate leaves
New and Established White Clover Seed Crops Apply after the emergence of the 4th trifoliate leaf and before stolon elongation
New and Established Red Clover Seed Crops and Subterranean Clover Apply after the emergence of the 4th trifoliate leaf and before stolon elongation
Established Lucerne Apply before flowering
Maize Apply at the 4th leaf stage (90 mm plant height)
New and Established Chicory Apply after the emergence of the 4th leaf

Application Methods

Synergy Flumet 800 can be applied with conventional spraying equipment: Boom and Aerial spraying: Apply in 100 – 300 liters water/ha. Use the higher water rate where weeds are dense. CDA application: Use a droplet size of 250 – 300 microns and not less than 30 liters of water per hectare. CDA application may be less effective than boom spraying. For CDA application, use 500 ml of spraying oil per hectare.

Mixing

Add the required quantity of Synergy Flumet 800 to the spray tank partly filled with water, and maintain agitation through filling and spraying. Add Synergy Mineral Oil or Synoil last if used. Only mix sufficient spray solution for immediate use. Do not store spray solutions.

Soil Residues

Do not plant susceptible crops within 3 months of application. Susceptible crops include all brassica species, beans, lupins and sunflowers.

Withholding Periods

It is an offense for users of this product to cause residues exceeding the relevant MRL in the Food Notice: Maximum Residue Levels for Agricultural Compounds. Do NOT graze crops or treated pasture for 14 days after application. Poisonous plants, eg black nightshade, giant buttercup, etc, can become more palatable after spraying. For animal safety reasons, stock should be kept away from treated areas until any poisonous plants have died down.

Resistance Management

GROUP B HERBICIDE

Synergy Flumet 800 contains flumetsulam, a triazolopyrimidine herbicide belonging to the inhibition of acetolactate synthase ALS (acetohydroxyacid synthase AHAS) mode of action group. Some naturally occurring weeds may become resistant when excessive use of the same herbicide occurs. To prevent or delay the development of resistance, use in tank mixes and/or rotate use with herbicides with a different mode of action. Consult http://resistance.nzpps.org/index.php for alternative modes of action and details of resistance management strategies (if any) for the crops listed on the label.

Compatibility

Synergy Flumet 800 is compatible with most commonly used herbicides. In pasture, the addition of Synergy MCPBMCPA or Tandem® will increase the range of broadleaf weeds controlled. If using with 2,4-D products such as Synergy 2,4-D Amine, Synergy 2,4-D Ester, Ammo® Max or Thistle Killem™ Ultra, use with a spray oil will increase clover damage and is not recommended unless the pasture has been well grazed prior to spraying. Do not mix Synergy Flumet 800 with spraying oil when using with triazine herbicides, eg, atrazine on lucerne.

Safety & Health

Precautions

APPROVED HANDLER: This product must be under the control of an approved handler during use. STORAGE: Keep out of reach of children. Store in the original, tightly closed container, in a secure place. Storage of certain quantities of this product trigger specific storage requirements (Refer to Safety Note). PERSONAL PROTECTION: Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Avoid inhalation of dust or spray mist. When mixing or applying, wear overalls, boots, gloves and eye protection. Clean protective clothing daily after work. Do not eat, drink or smoke while using. Remove protective clothing and wash hands and face thoroughly before meals and after work. USE: Apply with well maintained and calibrated spray equipment. Do not use packaging for any other purpose. ENVIRONMENTAL: Use this product carefully. Do not contaminate aquatic environments with product, spray drift or packaging. Spray drift or equipment contamination may cause serious damage to desirable plants. Do not allow spray drift outside the target area to occur. Do not use or flush equipment near to desirable plants or their roots. Do not use the same equipment to apply other chemicals to susceptible crops unless thoroughly cleaned and decontaminated.

Spray Equipment Cleaning And Decontamination

Spray equipment must be thoroughly cleaned and decontaminated before use to avoid the possibility of damage to susceptible crops. Refer to label of previously applied product for decontamination procedures. After use, immediately after spraying, drain equipment completely and flush twice with clean water. Discard any rinse solutions onto sprayed land or waste land away from desirable plants and water sources.

To prevent injury to subsequently sprayed sensitive crops (eg, Brassica species, beans, lupins and sunflowers); thoroughly decontaminate spraying equipment as follows: 1. Drain and flush as above. 2. Fill the tank with clean water and add an alkali detergent (eg, low foam laundry detergent) at 500 g/100 liters. Circulate throughout the system for at least 15 minutes. 3. Remove nozzles, filters and screens, and clean separately. 4. Drain system, flush with clean water and allow to drain.
