Applications & Uses

Application Technique
Insecticide Target Species
Spillage

Exclude non-essential people from the area. Wear protective clothing and prevent material from entering waterways. Absorb spill with inert material such as soil, sand, etc, and place in a waste container. Wash area with water and detergent, and absorb with further inert material. Dispose of safely to a suitable landfill.

Application Methods

Apply Phytospear to soil free of weeds and trash as an annual broadcast application. Use conventional aerial or ground spraying equipment.

Resistance Management

GROUP 4 FUNGICIDE

Phytospear is a member of the phenylamide group of fungicides. Resistance to this and other phenylamide fungicides could develop from excessive use. To minimize this risk, use strictly in accordance with label instructions. Phytospear must always be used in combination with a protectant fungicide such as mancozeb for disease control in brassica seedbeds, onions, potatoes and tomatoes. Apply no more than three applications of Phytospear in any single season. Consult http://resistance.nzpps.org/index.php for alternative modes of action and details of resistance management strategies (if any) for the crops and/or diseases listed on the label.

Directions For Use
CROP DISEASE CONTROLLED RATE CRITICAL COMMENTS
Asparagus Phytophthora spear rot 4 – 5 liters/ Ha Make one application in early spring one week before spear emergence. Apply in sufficient water to obtain good coverage. Use the higher rate if the disease occurred during the previous spring. Approximately 10mm of rain or irrigation is needed to move Phytospear into the soil
Brassica seedbeds Downy mildew 6.5mL/100m2 of seedbed + 17g/100m2 of Manco™ 75WG (75% Mancozeb) Make first application as soon as most seedlings have emerged and repeat every 10 days until transplanting. Apply in sufficient water to achieve complete coverage. Note: No more than 3 applications of Phytospear (or any other phenylamide containing fungicide) should be applied to the crop. Phytospear MUST be used in combination with Mancozeb.
Onions Downy mildew 640mL/ha + 1.7kg/ha of Manco 75WG (75% Mancozeb) In 500-700L of water/ha Make a maximum of 3 applications at 10 day intervals during the period of active growth when conditions of high humidity favor the disease. Note: No more than 3 applications of Phytospear (or any other phenylamide containing fungicide) should be applied to the crop. Phytospear should not be used on onion crops which follow an onion crop that has been growing in the same field that season. Phytospear MUST be used in combination with Mancozeb.
Potatoes, outdoor tomatoes Late blight 800mL/ha + 2.1kg/ha of Manco 75WG (75% Mancozeb) In 500-700L of water/ha Apply when the crop is fully emerged but before any sign of disease and repeat at 10-14 day intervals. Use closer intervals when conditions favor the disease, especially during favorable growth conditions in the period prior to flowering. Apply when foliage is dry and no rain is expected for at least 2 hours. Do not apply after flowering. Note: No more than 3 applications of Phytospear (or any other phenylamide containing fungicide) should be applied to the crop. Phytospear should not be used on potato crops which follow a potato crop that has been growing in the same field that season. Phytospear MUST be used in combination with Mancozeb.
