Application Technique
Spillage

Exclude non-essential people from the area. Wear protective clothing and prevent material from entering waterways. Absorb spill with inert material such as soil, sand, etc, and place in a waste container. Wash area with water and detergent, and absorb with further inert material. Dispose of safely to a suitable landfill.

Directions For Use

It is an offense to use this product off-label.

Do not exceed the specified rates or application frequencies.

FRUIT CROPS

The rates suggested for foliar application are for high volume spraying to run-off. For concentrate spraying, adjust dilution rate accordingly. The addition of a wetting agent at manufacturer’s label rates to all foliar applications of Zagro Diazinon 600EW will enhance insect control.

Apples, Pears (Non-Bearing Trees Only) Leaf Curling Midge Ground-4 L/ha Apply as a single application prior to the emergence of Midge adults. Apply to the area beneath the trees to the dripline or over the entire orchard floor where the orchard has been recently replanted or regrafted. Ensure the ground is free of vegetation and trash. The action of rain or irrigation during application is desirable to move the active ingredient into the soil.
    Foliar-80 mL/100L Apply at tight cluster in September to coincide with first generation egg hatch. Repeat post-petal fall if first generation egg hatching is still occurring, or for a later generation of egg hatch. Note: Do NOT use over the pink to petal fall period.
  Wooly apple aphid, San Jose scale, Mealy bug, Aphids 80 mL/100L Make the first application at green tip in combination with a spraying oil and a second application as required in combination with a black spot fungicide.

GROUND CROPS

The rates suggested are for low volume broadcast application in 200 liters of water/ha, with increasing water rates as necessary for more leafy vegetable crops. A rate of 50 liters of water/ha is suitable for aerial application to pasture.

Pasture Grass Grub 4 L/ha Apply during falling rain, during February to April when grubs are small and near the surface. Pasture must be short, hard grazed with moist soil. Applications must be followed by about 13 mm of rain within a week for best results. Do NOT apply to heavy clay or peaty type soils
  Porina 1.5 to 2 L/ha Apply to short grazed pasture, preferably in the late afternoon when frost is NOT expected. Use the higher rate when caterpillars are large and numerous or if pasture is dense.
  Armyworm 1 L/ha Apply in the early morning or late afternoon when caterpillars are actively feeding.
  Lucerne Flea 460 mL/ha Apply when insects first appear in autumn and repeat in 4 weeks if necessary.

Mixing

Zagro Diazinon 600EW mixes readily with water. Add the required amount into the partly filled spray tank then add the rest of the water with agitation. Continue agitation while spraying.

Withholding Periods

It is an offense for users of this product to cause residues exceeding the relevant MRL in the Food Notice: Maximum Residue Levels for Agricultural Compounds.

Keep ducks, geese and hens off treated areas for 7 days following spraying to control surface feeding insects.

Resistance Management

GROUP 1 INSECTICIDE

Zagro Diazinon 600EW contains the organophosphorus compound diazinon. Resistance to this insecticide could develop from excessive use. To minimize this risk, use strictly in accordance with label instructions. Compatibility

Zagro Diazinon 600EW may be tank mixed with most insecticide and some fungicide formulations. Flocculation may occur in combination with Iprodione SC, Dodine SC, Carbaryl SC and Captan or where hard water is used. If used in combination with emulsifiable concentrate formulations, the mixture should be tested before use. Do NOT mix with copper sprays, Bordeaux mixture or lime sulfur.

Precautions

APPROVED HANDLER: This product must be under the control of an approved handler during use. STORAGE: Keep out of reach of children. Store in the original, tightly closed container, in a secure area away from feed or foodstuffs. Storage of certain quantities of this product trigger specific storage requirements (Refer to Safety Note). When stored appropriately this product should show no significant degradation for two years from the date of manufacture. Contact your supplier for further information about the use of product that is older than this. PERSONAL PROTECTION: Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Avoid inhalation of vapor or spray mist. When mixing, loading, applying or entering into treated areas, wear chemical resistant coveralls with hood tightly fitting at head, wrists and ankles, chemical resistant boots and gloves, and full face respirator (organic vapor and particulate matter). The Restricted Entry Interval (REI), during which personal protection must be worn, is 24 hours. Clean protective clothing daily after work. Do not eat, drink or smoke while using. Remove protective clothing and wash hands and face thoroughly before meals and after work. USE: Exclude people from application area. Apply with well maintained and calibrated spray equipment. Indoor application must be carried out using automated application equipment, and is subject to signage requirements (Refer to Safety Data Sheet). DISPOSAL: Dispose of this product only by using in accordance with this label, or at a suitable landfill. Do not burn. Triple rinse container and add rinsate to the spray tank. Dispose of container to a suitable landfill or agricultural recycling scheme. Do not burn. Do not use container for any other purpose. ENVIRONMENTAL: Use this product carefully. Do not contaminate aquatic environments with product, spray drift or empty container. This product is very toxic to bees. Do not apply this product to any plant or tree likely to be visited by bees at the time of application, immediately after application until the spray has dried, or in areas where bees are foraging. The person applying this substance must not cause adverse effects beyond the boundary of the treated property, and must also avoid adverse effects from spray drift occurring. Mitigation measures employed must be recorded as part of the application records. Use of this product is subject to prior notification of affected parties and neighbors (Refer to Safety Data Sheet).
