Features & Benefits

General Information

Tillmate works best when weeds are small and actively growing. Susceptible weeds will stop growth soon after treatment, but damage symptoms may take 1 - 3 weeks to appear. Tillmate will work quicker under warm, moist growth conditions, whilst cold dry conditions following application will slow its action.

Applications & Uses

Application Technique
Herbicide Target Species
Spillage

Exclude non-essential people from the area. Wear protective clothing and prevent material from entering waterways. If granules have spilt, moisten to prevent dusting and sweep up. If liquid, absorb spill with inert material such as soil, sand, etc. Place in waste container. Wash area with water, and absorb with further inert material. Dispose of safely to a suitable landfill.

Mixing

Add the required quantity of Tillmate to the spray tank partly filled with water, and maintain agitation through filling and spraying. Use Tillmate mixtures within 24 hours of preparation as product degradation may occur. Always add a non-ionic surfactant, eg, Synergy™ Wetter Sticker, at the label recommended rate, unless using in tank mix with another product that contains surfactant.

Rainfall

Do NOT spray if rainfall is expected within 1 hour of spraying.

Resistance Management

GROUP B HERBICIDE

Tillmate belongs to the sulfonylurea chemical group. Some naturally occurring weeds may become resistant when excessive use of the same herbicide occurs. To prevent or delay the development of resistance, use in tank mixes and/or rotate use with herbicides with a different mode of action. Consult http://resistance.nzpps.org/index.php for alternative modes of action and details of resistance management strategies (if any) for the crops listed on the label.

Directions For Use

It is an offense for users of this product to cause residues exceeding the relevant MRL in the Food Notice: Maximum Residue Levels for Agricultural Compounds. Do NOT spray crops that are under stress from drought, water saturated soil, disease or insect damage, as crop damage may occur. Crop damage may also occur if these conditions occur after spraying. Do NOT apply to crops undersown with clover or lucerne. Use a minimum of 60 liters of water per hectare in all methods of application. Crop injury may result from spray overlap. When starting, slowing or stopping, shut off the spray boom.

Crop / Situation Application Rate Weeds Controlled Critical Comments
Cereals - Wheat, Barley, Oats 15g/ha 25g/ha Californian thistle*, chickweed, fathen, scarlet pimpernel, scotch thistle, shepherds purse, spurrey, wild turnip, willow weed. *Apply to rosettes (10 - 15cm tall); thistles emerging after application will not be controlled. Redroot, sheeps sorrel, twin cress, wireweed Apply at any stage from the 2-leaf Stage (GS12) up to just before the ‘boot’ stage (GS39). For best results spray before the crop canopy closes to small actively growing weeds. Use a minimum of 60 liters/ha of water. When used alone, add a non-ionic surfactant at label recommended rate. The higher rate is required for these weeds.
Barley only 15g/ha   To improve the spectrum of weeds controlled Tillmate can be tank mixed with Cougar® or Combine®. Follow the label recommendations of the tank mix partner.
Conservation Tillage - Cereals, Maize, New Pasture, Peas, Potatoes, Squash 40g/ha Clovers, ragwort*, sheeps sorrel, yarrow *Ragwort plants may be more palatable after spraying, do NOT graze until treated plants brown out. For improved control of certain broadleaf weeds, use in tank mix with glyphosate plus penetrant (e.g. Silmaxx™ or Synergy™ Penetrant) before the crop is sown. Plantback Period: Do not sow the crop within 14 days of using Tillmate. Do not use Tillmate within 2 months after applying lime.
Conservation Tillage - Brassicas 40g/ha Clovers, ragwort*, sheeps sorrel, yarrow *Ragwort plants may be more palatable after spraying, do NOT graze until treated plants brown ou For improved control of certain broadleaf weeds, use in tank mix with glyphosate plus penetrant (e.g. Silmaxx™ or Synergy™ Penetrant) before the crop is sown. Plantback Period: Do not sow the crop within 14 days of using Tillmate. Do not sow if the soil pH exceeds 6.5. Do not use Tillmate within 2 months after applying lime.

Do not use packaging for any other purpose. ENVIRONMENTAL: Use this product carefully. Do not contaminate aquatic environments with product, spray drift or packaging. Spray drift or equipment contamination may cause serious damage to desirable plants. Do not allow spray drift outside the target area to occur. Do not use or flush equipment near to desirable plants or their roots. Do not use the same equipment to apply other chemicals to susceptible crops unless thoroughly cleaned and decontaminated.

Spray Equipment Decontamination

To prevent injury to subsequently sprayed sensitive crops, thoroughly decontaminate spraying equipment immediately after spraying: 1. Drain tank and flush tank, boom and hoses with clean water for at least 10 minutes. 2. Fill tank with clean water and 1 liter chlorine bleach (3% sodium hypochlorite) per 100 liters water. Keep agitation system running while flushing hoses and boom, then drain. 3. Repeat step 2. 4. Remove and clean nozzles, filters and screens separately. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and flush through hoses and boom to remove traces of chlorine.
