General Information

Effective killing of problem weeds (including shrubs and trees) is achieved by swabbing the cut stump with gel. Depending on the size of the unwanted plant, there is usually no resprouting after application, and the plant will die over the following weeks. Complete death of particularly large trees or shrubs may take several months. Repeat treatments will be necessary if regrowth occurs. Although Triumph Gel can be applied at any time of year, better results will usually be achieved in spring - autumn. Avoid using when it is raining, or where rain is expected within 12 hours of treatment.

Directions For Use

Trees, Woody Weeds and Shrubs, eg, barberry, broom, buddleia, cotoneaster, elder, gorse, hawthorn, matagouri, pine, poplar, privet, sweet briar, tutu, wattle, willow, wooly nightshade, etc. Cut the stem off near to the ground (2 – 10cm), and immediately apply gel 3 – 5 mm thick onto the cut stump. Alternatively, for larger shrubs and trees with a trunk diameter greater than 15 cm, 4 or more evenly spaced cuts, about 2 cm deep, can be made with an ax or saw into the trunk near ground level. Apply the gel liberally into the cuts. Scrambling Perennial weeds, eg, banana passionfruit, blue morning glory, greater bindweed, honeysuckle (Himalayan, Japanese), ivy (Cape, English, German, etc), jasmine, old mans beard, vines, etc. Cut the stem off near to the ground (2 – 10cm), and immediately apply gel 3 – 5 mm thick onto the cut stump. To minimize risks to any desirable tree the weed may be climbing, care should be taken to avoid the gel contacting the desirable tree. Damage may also occur to desirable trees should the gel be washed into the root zone, and alternative control methods should be considered. Weeds with creeping or bulbous roots, eg, agapanthus, wild ginger, etc. Cut all shoots back to the root structure, and immediately apply gel 3 – 5 mm thick to the cut surface of the root structure. On plants such as wild ginger, where extensive root structures can occur between shoots, drill a hole approximately 10 mm diameter into every fourth structure from a shoot (to almost full depth), and fill with gel. Not for use on food or animal feed crops.
