Features & Benefits

General Information

Triumph Gold is a broadleaf herbicide for control of a range of pasture weeds. Note: Triumph Gold is damaging to legumes, including clovers. Residues in the soil may prevent early reestablishment following treatment. It is suggested that small areas be oversown with clover 1 – 2 months prior to the planned sowing time and these plants are checked for growth inhibition. DO NOT USE TRIUMPH GOLD IN AREAS WHERE SUSCEPTIBLE CROPS (INCLUDING LEGUMES AND CLOVERS) OR OTHER DESIRABLE PLANT SPECIES MAY COME INTO CONTACT WITH THIS HERBICIDE. THIS PRODUCT IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR USE IN HOME GARDENS. DO NOT USE COMPOST OR MULCH FROM CLIPPINGS FOR AT LEAST 6 MONTHS. DO NOT DISPOSE of CLIPPINGS THROUGH GARDEN WASTE RECYCLING.

Applications & Uses

Herbicide Target Species
Spillage

Exclude non-essential people from the area. Wear protective clothing and prevent material from entering waterways. Absorb spill with inert material such as soil, sand, etc, and place in a waste container. Wash area with water, and absorb with further inert material. Dispose of safely to a suitable landfill.

Mixing

Mix the required quantity in the spray tank partly filled with water, and maintain agitation through filling and spraying.

Application Methods

Aerial Spraying: Use a minimum of 60L water per hectare applied as a coarse spray. Refer to BCPC and ASAE standards. Boom Spraying: Use a minimum of 200L of water per hectare. High volume Gun: Refer to table. Ensure full coverage of leaves and stems. Use a no. 4 tip, and pressures 500 – 2000 kPa. Drench Gun: Use with an extension lance and a hollow cone nozzle. Knapsack and C-Dax: Apply to wet the entire plant. Carpet and Wick weed wipers: Ensure the weed wiper remains saturated while in use. Use two passes in opposite directions. Drain and wash the wiper with water immediately after use.

Drift

The addition of a suitable drift control agent such as Kiwi Cover™ is recommended to reduce spray drift onto non-target species

Withholding Periods

It is an offense for users of this product to cause residues exceeding the relevant MRL in the Food Notice: Maximum Residue Levels for Agricultural Compounds. Poisonous plants may become more palatable after spraying, and livestock should be kept out until plants have died down.

Resistance Management

GROUP O3 HERBICIDE

Triumph Gold contains the active ingredients picloram and triclopyr, both of which belong to the pyridine carboxylic acid chemical family. Some naturally occurring weeds may become resistant when excessive use of the same herbicide occurs. To prevent or delay the development of resistance, use in tank mixes and/or rotate use with herbicides with a different mode of action. Consult http://resistance.nzpps.org/ index.php for alternative modes of action and details of resistance management strategies (if any) for the uses listed on the label.

For low growing plants such as ragwort, thistles etc, use a handlance or handgun with a number 4 tip at 500 kPa. For larger or semi-wooded plants, e.g. inkweed, fennel, use a handgun with a number 4 tip at 1000 – 2000 kPa. Broadcast Application: In areas of heavy ragwort or thistle infestation apply 4L per hectare of Triumph Gold Herbicide before flowering. Use enough water to ensure good coverage. IN AREAS WHERE THIS IS APPLIED ALL LEGUMES INCLUDING CLOVERS AND LUCERNE WILL BE SEVERLY AFFECTED. Late applications to mature plants will result in variable control.
