Features & Benefits

General Information

Wallop can be added to companion herbicides to speed up knockdown and improve the control of certain broadleaf weeds. Wallop can also be used for the desiccation of potato haulms. Wallop is a fast acting contact herbicide. It desiccates and controls weeds through a process of membrane disruption. It is rapidly absorbed through the foliage and green stems of plants. The foliage of susceptible plants shows signs of desiccation within a few hours following application. Death of the weed or plant tissue follows within few days. Wallop works best against small actively growing weeds. Under warm moist conditions, herbicidal activity may be accelerated, while under very dry and cold conditions, the activity will be slower. Weeds hardened off by drought are more difficult to control.

Applications & Uses

Applicable Crop
Application Technique
Herbicide Target Species
Spillage

Extinguish any ignition sources. Exclude non-essential people from the area. Wear protective clothing and prevent material from entering waterways. Absorb spill with inert material such as soil, sand, etc., and place in a waste container. Wash area with water and detergent, and absorb with further inert material. Dispose of safely to a suitable landfill.

Application Methods

Wallop can be applied with conventional spraying equipment. Apply in sufficient water to obtain complete coverage of all parts of the weeds. To avoid spray drift, use with nozzles and spray pressures producing medium to coarse droplet sizes, and position the boom height to the lowest possible setting. Do not apply aerially.

Mixing

Half fill the spray tank and start agitation. Add the required amount of Wallop directly into the water followed by the required amount of companion herbicide. Complete filling the spray tank and maintain agitation until spraying is complete.

Rainfall Or Irrigation

Do not apply within 1 hour of rainfall or irrigation

Withholding Periods

It is an offense for users of this product to cause residues exceeding the relevant MRL in the Food Notice: Maximum Residue Levels for Agricultural Compounds. Seed Potatoes: 14 days. Do not spray on crops with exposed tubers. Grazing: Not Required. However, grazing too early after application may result in reduced weed control. Observe withholding periods and any other recommendations of the companion product. Poisonous plants may become more palatable after spraying, and livestock should be kept out until these plants have died down.

Resistance Management

GROUP E HERBICIDE

Wallop contains carfentrazone-ethyl, which belongs to the inhibition of protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO) chemical group. Some naturally occurring weeds may become resistant when excessive use of the same herbicide occurs. To prevent or delay the development of resistance, use in tank mixes and/or rotate use with herbicides with a different mode of action. Consult http://resistance.nzpps.org/index.php for alternative modes of action and details of resistance management strategies (if any) for the crops listed on the label.

Directions For Use
Situation Application Rate Remarks
Ground Preparation Pre Planting of Crops and Pasture Post Cropping Clean Up Spray Weed Control around Roads, Yards, etc General Weed Control in Industrial and Commercial Situations Broadcast Application: 50 - 100 mL / ha with the recommended label rate of glyphosate, glufosinate-ammonium, paraquat, diquat or amitrole based companion herbicide. Spot Spraying: 10 mL / 100 L with the recommended label rate of the companion herbicide. Kiwicover ™ may be added to reduce spray drift. Adding Wallop will increase the rate at which treated broadleaf weeds develop visible symptoms (compared to knockdown herbicides applied alone) and may improve final control of broadleaf weeds, including certain hard-to-kill weeds such as mallows. Use the lower rates on younger weeds or weeds growing under good conditions, and the higher rates on older plants or plants growing under less optimum conditions. The lower rate may only provide suppression of some broadleaf weeds - older or stressed plants may not be adequately controlled. Application to hardened weeds or drought stressed weeds, especially under summer conditions, may cause only localized injury to weed foliage and may not enhance final weed control. Mallow growing in summer is particularly prone to drought stress, and may either not show symptoms, or may regrow following treatment. This can be despite mallow not appearing to be stressed at the time of application. Apply only as a tank mix with recommended rates of knockdown herbicides. Refer to the appropriate label for weed sizes and follow all label directions. When using Wallop as a spot spray, apply in sufficient water to thoroughly wet all weed foliage to the point of run-off
Seed Potato Haulm Desiccation 250 ml / ha plus Synoil™ at 1 L / ha in sufficient water to achieve complete foliage and stem coverage. The addition of Synergy™ Wetter Sticker at 25 mL / 100 liters is recommended. Wallop is most active on the stems of potatoes, but may be applied to the foliage of potatoes in the later stages of senescence to provide desiccation of potato foliage and vines. A second application at 7 days may be required on vigorous varieties e.g. Ilam Hardy. If the crop is in the active vegetative growth stage when desiccation is initiated, first destroy the foliage mechanically or with a knock down desiccant such as Reglone®. Apply Wallop 7 days later ensuring thorough coverage of the stems. A second application at 7 - 14 days may be required on vigorous varieties e.g. Ilam Hardy.

Do not exceed the maximum application rates specified. Do not exceed the minimum intervals specified between repeat applications.

Technical Details & Test Data

Compatibility

For most weed control uses, Wallop should be tank mixed with other herbicides including glyphosate products such as Deal ™ 510, Orion Glyphosate 360, Synergy Glyphosate 540, glufosinate-ammonium products such as Bash™, paraquat products such as PQ200™, paraquat and diquat products such as Preeglone®, and amitrole products. Follow all precautions for use on the companion product label. Wallop should not be applied in spray mixtures that have a pH below 5 or above 8. Avoid the overnight storage of Wallop spray mixtures.

Precautions

APPROVED HANDLER: This product must be under the control of an approved handler during use. STORAGE: Keep out of reach of children. Do not store near heat, flame or other source of ignition. Store in the original, tightly closed container, in a cool, dry, secure and well ventilated area. Storage of certain quantities of this product trigger specific storage requirements (Refer to Safety Note). When stored appropriately this product should show no significant degradation for two years from the date of manufacture. Contact your supplier for further information about the use of product that is older than this. PERSONAL PROTECTION: Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Avoid inhalation of vapor or spray mist. When mixing or applying, wear overalls, chemical resistant boots and gloves, eye protection and respirator (organic vapor and particulate matter). Clean protective clothing daily after work. Do not eat, drink or smoke while using. Remove protective clothing and wash hands and face thoroughly before meals and after work. USE: Avoid handling, mixing or use of the undiluted product or container near heat, flame or other source of ignition. Apply with well maintained and calibrated spray equipment. DISPOSAL: Dispose of this product only by using in accordance with this label, or at a suitable landfill. Do not burn. Triple rinse container and add rinsate to the spray tank. Dispose of container to a suitable landfill or agricultural recycling scheme. Do not burn. Do not use container for any other purpose. ENVIRONMENTAL: Use this product carefully. Do not contaminate aquatic environments with product, spray drift or empty container. Spray drift may cause serious damage to other desirable plants. Do not allow spray drift outside the target area to occur.

Sprayer Cleanup

Wallop is a sticky product that will adhere to tank and spray gear surfaces. It may therefore cause crop damage if not fully removed before using the spray equipment for selective weed control or for the application of other crop protection products. After spraying, use Synergy Tank Cleaner to remove any residues from the spray equipment.
