- Because of its degree of propoxylation, ALKOMOL® E 10 presents itself in the form of oily liquid of low viscosity with excellent spreading and emollient power over the skin and hair.
- These characteristics, combined with the not comedogenicity of ALKOMOL® E 10, allow its use in cosmetic formulations such as bath oils, sunscreens, hair products, lotions and creams, deodorants antiperspirant and products for makeup.
Typical applications for this product are shown below.
Bath oils, creams and lotions:
applied as an emollient, provides excellent spread over the skin, lubricating it without leaving excess oil. Prevents and avoids drying of skin, leaving it soft. In bath oils also acts as a solvent for aromatic oils in the formulation.
Sunscreen:
in this type of formulation, acts as a solvent of the active ingredient, and facilitate application (spreading) over the skin.
Hair products (hair spray):
forms a protective film on the hair, protecting it from dryness caused by the presence of other solvents in these formulations.
Their use in hair conditioners, in association with ALKONAT® EC 50 (fatty alcohol ethoxylated) promotes benefits in viscosity, appearance and processing of the formulation, and confer lubricity to the hair.
Deodorants antiperspirants:
decreases the irritating effect of formulation, giving to the skin a pleasant feeling. The presence of ALKOMOL® E 10 in deodorant spray, due to its lubricating action, assists in the application of products through packaging with valves, preventing the occurrence of clogging
Makeup Products:
indicated to disperse essential oils and pigments.
The recommended dosage of ALKOMOL® E 10 is generally from 2 to 10%, depending on application.
For applications mentioned here, dosages of the product ALKOMOL® E 10 must be defined experimentally in each formulation. OXITENO has a technical team that can assist in determination of the proper dosage for specific applications.

ALKOMOL® E 10 is supplied in polyethylene canisters with 45 kg or polyethylene drums with 200 kg.
Storage & Handling
- Storage And Handling
- ALKOMOL® E 10 has use provided for Cosmetic Ingredient Handbook - CTFA, being safe in cosmetic formulations. However, during handling is recommended to use personal protective equipment (PPE), such as PVC gloves, safety goggles and apron.
- In case of accidental contact with eyes, rinse with plenty of water.
- The place where chemicals are handled should be ventilated, have showers and emergency eyewash.
- It is necessary to store ALKOMOL® E 10 in a covered, dry area away from sources of heat or ignition. Although it is difficult to combusting, burning if involved in fire. The extinguishing agent are dry powder, carbon dioxide and alcohol resistant foam.
