Metox BW80 is a liquid peroxide initiator based on peroxides methyl ethyl ketone in an Ōalan plasticizer. Compared with the standard MEKP, it contains reduced content of hydrogen peroxide and water, and increased content of MEKP dimer. It states diluted form of the Metox-BW85 initiator.

Functions: Initiator

Chemical Family: Peroxides

Compatible Polymers & Resins: Polyesters, Vinyl Esters

Product Highlights

Metox-BW80 can be used for curing unsaturated polyester resins (UPR), gelcoats and vinyl ester resins based on bisphenol A and novolak resins, in the presence of a cobalt accelerator
or in the cobalt / amine system. The use of the second accelerator system shortens the gelation and curing times. In the case of the standard ortho-aluminum resin, it shows a longer gelation time than the standard one Metox-50W initiator. Recommended for production where long gelling times are required and in the summer when using standard MEKP results in obtaining too short gelation times. Use of standard MEKP-based initiators for UPR curing causes foaming. The peroxide is responsible for this effect hydrogen. In Metox-BW80, its content was reduced, which resulted in a significant reduction in foaming.
