Features & Benefits
- Product Highlights
- FILCO® 657/01 is an unsaturated polyester resin in powder form containing catalyst and antiblocking agent.
- FILCO® 657/01 crosslinks just above melting temperature. After curing, it becomes almost completely insoluble in styrene.
Applications & Uses
- Compatible Reinforcements
- Composites Processing Methods
- Applications
FILCO® 657/01 is recommended as a binder for the production of insoluble glass mats. These mats, obtained with chopped strand or continuous filaments, are used for example in hot or cold press, pultrusion, vacuum and injection (RTM) moldings.
- Processing Information
4 - 10% on the weight of the mat is normally used. The tensile strength of the mats obtained, either dry or after immersion in styrene, depends on the binder content and the curing rate of FILCO® 657/01. The curing cicle of FILCO® 657/01 depends on the oven conditions. The mat must stay in a hot air circulating oven at 200° - 220° C for at least 90 seconds. Temperature below 200° C or above 240° C are not advised. Below 200 °C there is a risk of insufficient curing, while above 240°C yellowing may occur.
