Trapylen® 186 EAC

1 of 74 products in this brand
Trapylen® 186 EAC is a chlorinated polypropylene dissolved in ethyl acetate. With a higher chlorine content compared to other Trapylen® grades, it exhibits good compatibility with other resins and polymers, excellent pigment wetting, and results in a high-gloss, chemically resistant film. The main advantage of Trapylen® 186 EAC is its outstanding adhesion to untreated polypropylene, PP/EPDM thermoplastic rubber, and, with limitations, polyethylene. However, its resistance against fatty oil and grease is limited.

Functions: Adhesion Promoter, Binder & Resin, Coupling Agent

Compatible Substrates & Surfaces: Polyethylene (PE), Polypropylene (PP)

Compatible Polymers & Resins: Natural Rubbers (NR), Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR)

Features & Benefits

Product Highlights
  • TRAPYLEN® 186 EAC has a higher chlorine content compared to other. TRAYPLEN® grades which results in a good compatibility with other resins and polymers and excellent pigment wetting. The cured film has a high gloss and very good chemical and aging resistance.
  • The main merit of TRAPYLEN® 186 EAC is the outstanding adhesion on untreated polypropylene, PP/EPDM thermoplastic rubber and - with limitations - on polyethylene.
  • The resistance against fatty oil and grease is limited and must be compensated by using it with low chlorinated TRAPYLEN® grades.
  • It is only recommended as a binder resin for screen printing inks and as an adhesion promoter.
  • In plastic paints and solvent based contact adhesives on NR/SBR/polychloroprene basis.
