Trapylen® 186 X

1 of 74 products in this brand
Trapylen® 186 X is a medium-chlorinated polypropylene dissolved in xylene. Characterized by a higher chlorine content compared to other grades, it exhibits relatively good compatibility with other resins and polymers, along with excellent pigment wetting. The cured film produced by Trapylen® 186 X boasts high gloss and remarkable chemical and aging resistance. Its primary advantage lies in its outstanding adhesion to untreated polypropylene, PP/EPDM thermoplastic rubber, and, to a limited extent, polyethylene.

Functions: Adhesion Promoter, Binder & Resin, Coupling Agent

Compatible Substrates & Surfaces: Polyethylene (PE), Polypropylene (PP)

Compatible Polymers & Resins: Natural Rubbers (NR), Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR)

Features & Benefits

Product Highlights
  • TRAPYLEN® 186 X has a higher chlorine content than other grades which results in a comparatively good compatibility with other resins and polymers and excellent pigment wetting. The cured film has a high gloss and a remarkable chemical and aging resistance.
  • Its main merit is the outstanding adhesion on untreated polypropylene, PP/EPDM thermoplastic rubber and - with limitations - on polyethylene.
  • Its resistance against fatty oil and grease is limited and must be compensated in combining it with other lower chlorinated TRAPYLEN® grades.
  • It is only recommended as a binder resin for screen printing inks and as an adhesion promoter in plastic paints and solvent based contact adhesives on NR/SBR/polychloroprene basis.
