- Translucent, soft, waterproof, platy, and free of asbestos
- Practically inert (except to hydrofluoric acid and concentrated sulfuric acid) and virtually unaffected by the action of heat, light, water, oil, solvents, alkalis and other chemicals
- Non-combustible with low heat conductivity; therefore, not affected by extended exposure to electrical discharge and serves as an excellent insulator
- Flexible, tough & elastic with high tensile/flexural strength and module of elasticity
- Similar to asbestos as a fire-resistant rock-forming silicate; however, BriteX is safe and will not pose a serious health hazard

It is specifically formulated for a wide variety of industrial applications:

It is used as a friction material for asbestos-free brake lining, brake pads, brake shoes, and brake disks. Thermally resistant, It reduces heat to rotors and drums and helps minimize warping and brake noise.
It is used in a variety of fire protection applications such as fire extinguishers, fire suppression systems, and linings in lift and fire doors. In addition, both the automotive and aerospace industries will use mica as a flame-retardant barrier and heat shield.
For sound dampening, BriteX provides a lightweight solution to suppress vibration and sound in a variety of applications from automotive parts to consumer appliances.
It can also be used as a surface coating to rolled asphalt roofing felt and shingles. It prevents sticking to adjacent surfaces during manufacture and storage and increases resistance to mechanical stress and weathering.
In decorative coatings & stucco, It reduces chalking; adds texture; prevents shrinkage of the paint film; provides a water barrier; reduces weathering; and promotes a shimmering effect.
