PAT-ADD DA 301 is a multi-applicable compatibiliser showing extremely strong surface activity. Main applications of the product are in the formulation of pigment dispersions as well as additive in base paints, which are tinted with universal colorants. PAT-ADD DA 301 optimizes color development. PAT-ADD DA 301 is strongly adsorbed onto inorganic pigments and extenders, thus creating a dense charged layer, which contributes to electrostatic stabilization of the dispersed pigment and extender particles. The tendency of pigment flocculation, during paint production, storage or application is reduced, whereas properties like viscosity stability on storage, color development, opacity are being optimized, using PAT-ADD DA 301.
- Benefits
- Optimizes color development
- Cures rub-up problems
- Strong prevention of pigment flocculation, floating, flooding, and pigment settling
- Improves adhesion of paints and inks if applied onto polar substrates.

Colorant compatibilizer, for use in WB and SB alkyd paint bases. Multifunctional anionic compound.
- Dosage & Addition
The optimal amount of PAT-ADD DA 301 to be used is system related, but generally is between 0,1 and 0,5% PAT-ADD DA 301, calculated on the total weight of paint formulation. The product is preferably added to the mill-base; in case of post addition typically higher levels are needed, such as approx 1% PAT-ADD DA 301 on total weight of paint. For use as wetting agent in colorants/ tinters (typically in conjunction with PATADD DA 601) higher dosages are required, generally 2 to 5% PAT-ADD DA 301 on total weight of the colorant or tinter. The optimum concentration to be used depends on the individual requirements and conditions.
