Features & Benefits
- Product Highlights
- Highly effective dispersant for acidic pigments, including silica and carbon black
- Optimizes milling operation, enabling higher pigment loading
- Wide range compatibility, in solvent-borne, solvent-free and most waterborne systems
- Excellent performances in stabilizing silica-matting agents.
- Prevents hard sedimentation in waterborne as well as solvent-borne primers
- Properties
PAT-ADD DA 817 exhibits particularly good wetting and dispersion properties with acidic pigment surfaces, such as silica, oxidized carbon black or organic pigments with acidic moieties. The product contributes to enhanced steric stabilization against re-flocculation. Although primary application is for waterborne systems, PAT-ADD DA 817 also demonstrates excellent performance in solvent-free systems, such as EP and PUR floorings. Additionally, use of PAT-ADD DA 817 in waterborne systems contributes to the creation of Newtonian flow behavior.
Applications & Uses
- Applications
- Coating Type
- Dosage & Addition
The optimal amount of PAT-ADD DA 817 is system related, generally between 5.0 - 30.0% for Carbon Blacks and Organic Pigments, and 0.30-3.0% for inorganic pigments and fillers, based on total pigment/filler loading. PAT-ADD DA 817 is added to the filler, pigments or polymer during or before compounding. The optimum concentration to be used depends on the individual formulation and best established in a ladder study
- End Use Application
PAT-ADD DA 817 is designed for use in a wide range of waterborne -, solvent-free - or polar solvent- borne industrial paints; baking systems, 2-pack systems, epoxies, polyesters, etc.
