PAT-ADD DA 861 is a polymeric dispersing agent for solvent-borne, solvent-free, and aqueous paints, inks and colorants. PAT-ADD DA 861 is free of volatile organic components. PAT-ADD DA 861 is multifunctional and compatible with a wide range of non-polar and polar solvent- borne paint systems. Although, PAT-ADD DA 861 is multifunctional and applicable to most pigments, it is particularly effective as a dispersant for carbon black.

Product Highlights
  • A universal dispersant
  • Optimizes the milling process, enabling higher pigment loadings
  • Provides excellent color development
  • No-VOC, odorless
  • Strong prevention of pigment flocculation, floating, flooding, and pigment settling
  • Wide range of compatibility, in solvent-borne, solvent-free as well as in most waterborne formulations
Properties

PAT-ADD DA 861 is a polymeric dispersing additive exhibiting strong adsorption onto a wide variety of pigment surfaces, contributing to excellent dispersion stability. PAT-ADD DA 861 is strongly adsorbed onto inorganic pigments and extenders, contributing to enhanced steric stabilization against re-flocculation. PAT-ADD DA 861 replaces PAT-ADD DA 801 in cases where very low VOC and odor requirements are required.

Applications & Uses

Dosage & Addition

The optimal amount of PAT-ADD DA 861 is system related, generally between 0.4 and 1.5% as supplied on total weight of paint formulation. The product is added to the mill-base prior to the dispersion process. For use as dispersing agent in inks, a dosage between 0.7 to 3.0% on total weight of the ink, is typically required. For use in pigment concentrates and colorants higher levels are suggested, such as 3 to 10% PAT-ADD DA 861 on total weight of the pigment dispersion formula. The optimum concentration depends on the individual formulation and best determined with a ladder study.

End Use Application

Due to its wide range of compatibility it can be used in solvent borne, solvent free and waterborne formulations. It is suitable for industrial, architectural paints, printing inks and colorants
