Features & Benefits

Properties

Pat-Add SU 440 shows both strong performance in reduction of static as well as dynamic surface tension. The product exhibits wetting performance in various applications. In waterborne coatings and inks Pat-Add SU 440 is used as pigment wetting and dispersing agent. Moreover, it contributes to improved substrate wetting properties of the coating or ink film, onto low surface tension substrates, such as plastics.

Benefits
  • Excellent pigment wetting properties
  • Unlike conventional wetting agents, it does not contribute to foam formation
  • Strong reduction of surface tension of aqueous systems
  • Low water solubility, so limited risk on leaching and water sensibility of the coating
  • Low usage levels, liquid, easy workability
  • Main application areas are WB industrial paints and WB inks
  • Aids flow and leveling

Dosage & Addition

The optimal amount of PAT-ADD SU 440 to be used is system and application related, but in case of being used as a pigment wetting agent in the range between 0.1% - 0,5% Pat-Add SU 440 by weight of the total formula. The product is best added to the mill base before the pigment and extender is added. The optimum concentration to be used depends on the individual requirements and conditions and is advised to be determined experimentally.
