To delay fruit maturity, which can allow for a harvest delay of 7 to 10 days.            Depending     on     orchard
conditions or grower objectives, one or more of the following benefits may be associated with this harvest delay:

- improved fruit quality through
maintenance of fruit firmness

- improved harvest management

- reduction of preharvest fruit drop - natural enhancement of fruit size and color

- maintenance of green background color

- maintenance of fruit firmness

- enhanced storage potential

To delay fruit maturity, improve fruit quality and storage potential of later picked apples. This late application typically will not delay the start of harvest (1" pick), but will help control the maturation rate of the later picks, with one or more of the benefits as listed above.

Reduction of NDF allows for artificial induction of flowers (forcing) at the appropriate plant maturity to give more uniform flowering and consequently more uniform fruit maturity.

favor NDF (typically for Hluhluwe, not later than early- to mid-May). Apply a total of 6 applications with 14 day intervals.

Apply in 1,500 to 2,000 L/ha spray volume, directing the spray pattern toward the apex of the stem (plant core) of pre-flowering pineapples.

Conditions that favor NDF in pineapple include:

  • cool temperatures (< 20°C);

  • short photoperiod (< 12 hr);

  • prolonged overcast and rainy weather

NOTES

  1. Do not apply ReTain® in combination with pesticides, other growth regulators or plant nutrients.
  2. Use properly calibrated spray equipment that ensures uniform and complete coverage of all foliage and fruit.
  3. ReTain® efficacy requires directing the spray pattern toward the apex of the stem (plant core) of

pre-flowering pineapples. Insufficient spray application volumes or uneven application patterns will reduce product performance.
