Directions For Use

Use only as directed. Efficacy is greatly influenced by environmental factors, i.e. water stress and heat waves can have a negative influence. Ideally soil conditions should provide adequate moisture and nutrition for growth after application.

SPRAY VOLUME PER HECTARE

Apply in sufficient amount of water to ensure thorough coverage of all leaves without excessive runoff. Use calibrated spray equipment to ensure uniform coverage. In many cases, spray volumes of 100 - 200 L/ha have been shown to be adequate.

Time Of Application
  • RyzUp SmartGrass® should be applied to pastures 1 to 5 days following grazing. There must be some green leaf present for uptake. Apply when wind conditions will not cause excessive spray drift.
  • Apply in the early morning or evening when conditions are best for slow drying (cooler temperature and higher humidity), in order to ensure adequate absorption of the product. If applied in the morning, assure that the leaves are not too wet from dew.
  • Delay applying of RyzUp SmartGrass® after rain until leaves are free of surface droplets. Application should be made only when a 6-hour rain free period is expected. If rain falls within 6 hours of application reduced response should be anticipated. Do not re-spray in the event of rain falling within 6 hours of application.
Mixing Instructions
  • Do not pre-mix RyzUp SmartGrass®.
  • Half-filled a clean spray tank with clean water and engage the agitator. Add the required amount of RyzUp SmartGrass®. Continue to agitate while bringing the total volume of water to the required level.
  • RyzUp SmartGrass® performs best at water pH between 5 and 7; do not exceed pH of 8.5. Use the RyzUp SmartGrass® spray solution within 24 hours of mixing.
Grazing Management

RyzUp SmartGrass® is particularly suited from late autumn to early spring when pasture growth is insufficient due to cool temperatures. RyzUp SmartGrass® should be applied when pastures are ready to be rested following removal of animals, 1 to 5 days after grazing. Do not apply RyzUp SmartGrass® to pastures or paddocks containing livestock. The response of ungrazed or rank pasture will be minimal, and these pastures should be grazed prior to application. Applications made more than 5 days after grazing will likely result in lower growth response. Moisture levels and fertility must be adequate for grass growth prior to application. Growth stimulation is usually seen within 7 days after application and ceases around 3-4 weeks after application. Stock should be kept off the treated pasture for 3-4 weeks in order to maximize the pasture production/growth. RyzUp SmartGrass® application under optimum growth conditions may not provide a significant increase in dry matter production.

Note:RyzUp SmartGrass® stimulated pastures grow rapidly and the color of the pasture typically changes from dark green to greeny-yellow. Color and nutrient levels are typically restored after 3-4 weeks growth. RyzUp SmartGrass® application to pastures containing high populations of weeds that may cause milk taint should be avoided.

Don’t exceed 6 applications per hectare per year.

Don’t apply when there is insufficient soil moisture to support rapid plant growth.

Soil fertilizer levels must be sufficient to allow for the increase in pasture production.

The addition of nitrogen-based fertilizer, such as urea may give added pasture growth.

NOTES

  1. Do not tank mix RyzUp SmartGrass® with herbicides, insecticides, fungicides or plant nutrients.
  2. Use properly calibrated spray equipment that ensures uniform and complete coverage of all leaves.
  3. Vegetative growth response of ryegrass after a RyzUp SmartGrass® application is dependent on many interacting variables such as timing & rate of application, cultivar, soil type, nutrition status and environmental conditions. Local knowledge is essential if the desired result is to be attained.
  4. Seek expert advice before using RyzUp SmartGrass® for the first time on rye grass. Please consult your technical advisor or Valent BioSciences representative.

Precautions
  • Do not inhale spray mist.
  • Wash with soap and water after use.
  • Store in a cool, dry place.
  • Avoid drift of spray onto other crops, rivers and dams.
  • Clean applicator before using with other remedies and dispose of wash water where it will not contaminate crops, grazing, rivers and dams.
  • Rinse empty container three times with a volume of water to at least one tenth of that of the container and add the rinsing to the contents of the spray tank before disposing of the container in the prescribed manner.
  • Destroy empty container and NEVER use for any other purpose.
  • Prevent contamination of food, feeds, drinking water and eating utensils.
