Applications & Uses

Application Technique
Directions For Use

Use only as indicated.

Mixing Instructions

Fill the tank from ¼ to ½ full with water and start agitating (use mechanical or hydraulic
agitation).  Add the required amount of Sumisclex SC to the tank while it is filled with
water.

pH of the spray water

The efficacy of Sumisclex SC may be reduced by very hard water (>1 000 p.p.m. solutes) and by water with high pH value.

When Sumisclex SC  is used, optimal efficacy will be obtained in water of ph 4,5 - 5,5. Water of a higher or lower pH than 4,5 - 5,5 should be buffered to pH 4,5 - 5,5 by using Curabuff (Reg. No. L 4731).

Where Curabuff is used to adjust the pH of the water, the Curabuff must be mixed with
the total volume of water required for that particular tank mixture before adding the

Sumisclex SC.

Use the spray mixture without delay and do not allow to stand prolonged periods.
Continue agitating the spray mixture constantly during mixing and spray operation.

AERIAL APPLICATION

Aerial  application  of  SUMISCLEX  SC  may  only  be  done  by  a  registered  Aerial
Application Operator using a correctly calibrated, registered aircraft according to the instructions of SABS 10118 (Aerial Application of Agricultural Pesticides).  Ensure that the spray mixture is distributed evenly over the target area and that the loss of spray material during application is restricted to a minimum.  It is therefore essential that the following criteria be met:

Volume A spray mixture volume of 30 liters per hectare is recommended.  As

this product has not been evaluated at a reduced volume rate, the registration
holder cannot guarantee efficacy, or be held responsible for any adverse effects
if this product is applied aerially at a lower volume rate than recommended
above.

Droplet coverage:   25 to 35 droplets per cm² must be recovered at the target area.

Droplet  size:    A  droplet  spectrum  with  a  VMD  of     280  to  300  microns  is recommended.  Limit the production of fine droplets less than 150 microns (high drift and evaporation potential) to a minimum.

Flying height:  Maintain the height of the spray boom at 3 to 4 meters above the target.  Do not spray when aircraft dives, is in a climb or when banking

Use suitable atomising equipment that will produce the desired droplet size and coverage, but which will ensure the minimum loss of product.  The spraying  system must produce a droplet spectrum with the lowest possible Relative Span.  Position all the atomisers within the inner 60 to 75 % of the wingspan to prevent droplets from entering the wingtip vortices.

The difference in temperature between the wet and dry bulb thermometers, of a

whirling hygrometer, should not exceed 8°C.

Stop spraying if the wind speed exceeds 15 km/h.

Stop spraying under turbulent, unstable and dry conditions during the heat of the day.

Spraying  under  temperature  inversion  conditions   (spraying  in  or  above  the inversion layer) and/or high humidity conditions (relative humidity 80 % and above) may lead to the following:

a)  reduced efficacy due to suspension and evaporation of small droplets in the
      air (inadequate coverage).

b)  damage to other sensitive crops and/or non-target areas through drifting of  the suspended spray cloud away from the target field.

Ensure that the Aerial Spray Operator knows exactly which fields to spray. Obtain an assurance from the Aerial Spray Operator that the above requirements will be met and that relevant data will be compiled in a logbook and kept for future reference.

Soya beans only:

Apply  as  soon  as  the  first

symptoms   of   the   disease

appear.

Ensure  thorough  wetting  of

the stems.

If the lower stems are not

thoroughly    wetted,    the

control       will       not be

satisfactory.

If    cool   and   wet   climatic

conditions continue for 4 - 7

days after the application, the

product   should   be   applied

again.

Ground application:

Apply  once  in  at  least 500ℓ

water per ha.

Center pivot irrigation:

Ensure that the irrigation cycle

is  set  at  maximum  speed,

ensuring  that  no  more  than

4mm of water is applied.

It is essential to use Sumisclex

SC    in    combination    with

mancozeb since the use of only

Sumisclex  SC  may  result  in

inferior  control  of  Early  blight

and  no  control  of  Late  Blight

(Phytophthora infestans).

The  use  of  the  recommended

spray   program   will   also

control Botrytis.

TABLE GRAPES

Botrytis-rot (Gray mold)         200 mℓ                                  Apply a single full cover spray

(Botrytis cinerea)                                                                   when   berries   are   pea   size.

Follow up at 3-weekly intervals

with a suitable dusting powder.

Take  note  of  the  withholding

powders.

Sumisclex SC may not be used on table grapes destined for export.

WINE GRAPES

are   noticed.            Repeat   the

application   at     7    -    10   day

intervals until the aerial parts of

the plants start to die back.  The

The  addition  of  the  Sancozeb

WP (Reg No. L 3459) will ensure

protection against late blight.

Apply in a program spray and

use sufficient spray mixture to

obtain  good  coverage  of  the

plants.

PEAS

Sclerotinia rot

(Sclerotinia sclerotiorum)

2ℓ/ha

Apply   at    1%   flowering   and

repeat  the  application 8 - 14

days  later.    The  remedy  may

also be applied through a center

pivot irrigation system, in 5 - 7

mm of water/ha.

PEARS

Blossom end rot

(Botrytis cinerea)

200 mℓ

Apply two full cover applications;

at full blossom and again at 75

percent petal fall. The addition of

a broad spectrum fungicide such

75mℓ / 100m2

To ensure good coverage of the

turf surface dilute the required

volume of Sumisclex SC in 3,0

- 3,5ℓ of water / 100m2 to be

sprayed

Preventative treatment:

Commence   application   when

climatic          conditions are

favorable for the development

of the disease before symptoms

appear.            The   applications

should be repeated at 14 - 21

day intervals for as long as the

conditions remain favorable.

Corrective treatment:

Commence  the  application  as

soon   as   the   first   disease

symptoms  appear,  and  repeat

when necessary.

This treatment will prevent the

diseases from spreading beyond

the infected areas, and suppress

it on the already infected areas.

NOTE:

If the grass is being mown, the Sumisclex SC should only be applied after cutting, and

further mowing should not take place until at least 24 hours after treatment.

Resistance Warning

Sumisclex  SC  is a group code F1 fungicide. Any fungal population may contain individuals naturally resistant to Sumisclex SC and other group code F1 fungicides. The
resistant individuals may eventually dominate the fungal population if these fungicides are used repeatedly. These resistant fungi may not be controlled by Sumisclex SC or any other group code F1 fungicide.

To delay fungicide resistance:

Avoid exclusive repeated use of fungicides from the same group code. Alternate or tank mix with products from different group codes

For tank mixing or alternation with products in fungicide group code M, refer to applicable individual product labels

Integrate other control methods ( chemical, biological, cultural ) into disease control programs

For specific information on resistant management contact the registration holder of this
product.
