    Use Restrictions

    GENERAL:

    • DO NOT apply YAMATO® 480 SC under conditions as listed below, which may result in possible crop injury by YAMATO® 480 SC and/or reduced or inadequate weed control efficacy:

                           a) poorly drained soils or soils with a compaction layer. Water logging in the presence of herbicides will cause stand reduction and/or stunted growth which may lead to     yield reduction.

                          b) prolonged or abnormally cold and/or prolonged or abnormally wet conditions.

    • plants under stress due to factors such as low pH, poor crop nutrition, nematode infestations, diseases, drought etc.
    • DO NOT apply YAMATO® 480 SC to inbred parent lines of maize hybrids nor on experimental or newly released cultivars/varieties without first consulting your chemical supplier or the seed company concerned. DO NOT apply YAMATO® 480 SC to popcorn or sweetcorn.
    • DO NOT apply YAMATO® 480 SC through any type of irrigation system.
    • DO NOT use flood irrigation to apply or incorporate this product, besides possible crop injury, weed control efficacy may also be reduced..
    • DO NOT apply YAMATO® 480 SC at all with sleeve boom sprayers.
    • DO NOT use YAMATO® 480 SC at all on fields where the crop rotation restrictions, on the labels of any preceding herbicides (eg. triazines, sulfonylureas etc.) previously used on those same fields, have not been fully complied with.
    • DO NOT spray YAMATO® 480 SC with alkaline water - first use a buffer to lower water pH if necessary.
    • MINIMUM RECROPPING INTERVAL AND CROP ROTATION GUIDELINES

a)The minimum re-cropping interval is the time between the last application of YAMATO® 480 SC alone or in combination with complementary herbicide/s and the anticipated date of planting a subsequent crop.

    • To avoid injury to subsequent follow-up crops the following waiting periods (minimum re-cropping intervals) after the last application of YAMATO® 480 SC should be observed:

    Yamato® - Use Restrictions

Important For all other crops not listed above a replanting interval of at least 24 months has to be observed preceded by a test planting.

    •  If any tank-mix partner herbicide label lists waiting periods for follow-up crops other than those listed above for YAMATO® 480 SC, then the most restrictive periods should be taken into account.
    • The above-mentioned waiting periods are valid only if the correct dosage rate of YAMATO® 480 SC alone or in combination with complementary herbicide/s according to the soil type was applied and normal or above average rainfall occurred during and following the season in which the application was made.
    • For mixtures of YAMATO® 480 SC with triazine-containing products Atrazine/Terbuthylazine 600 SC the 9 month waiting periods listed for various crops do not apply for sandy soils containing 0 - 10 % clay. On such sandy soils apply longer waiting periods as directed on the relevant triazine product label.
    •  The above-mentioned waiting periods are valid only if YAMATO® 480 SC and/or complementary herbicide/s were only applied to the crop with a single or a split application as directed on this label.
    • For any herbicides used in combination with YAMATO® 480 SC all warnings, precautions, use restrictions and directions for use given on the labels of such herbicides must be fully adhered to.
    Directions For Use

    Use only as directed.

YAMATO® 480 SC may be applied in certain tank-mixtures with complementary herbicides pre-emergence OR early post-emergence OR late post-emergence.

Some early or late YAMATO® 480 SC post-emergence tank-mixture treatments are recommended sequentially after pre-emergence treatments of YAMATO® 480 SC alone or in certain tank-mixtures.

Some late post-emergence YAMATO® 480 SC tank-mixture treatments are recommended sequentially after early post-emergence treatments of certain YAMATO® 480 SC tank-mixtures or of other complementary herbicides. Aforesaid tank-mixture or sequential applications of YAMATO® 480 SC combinations with other complementary herbicides can be used, for pre- and post-emergence control of annual grasses, broadleaf weeds and Cyperus esculentus (yellow nutsedge) in maize.

    Mixing Instructions
    • Shake YAMATO® 480 SC well before use.
    • When applying YAMATO® 480 SC alone half-fill the spray tank or mixing tank with clean water, then add the required amount of YAMATO® 480 SC whilst agitating. Then fill the tank to the required mark with water whilst agitating continuously.
    • When tank-mixing YAMATO® 480 SC with another herbicide or herbicides, read the label of the complementary herbicide/s and adhere closely to the manufacturers recommendations.
    • Mix the required volume of chemicals to be tank-mixed singly with a little water in the ratio of one part product to two parts water, prior to addition to the spray tank as recommended below. Rinse container used for pre-mixing after each product addition and add rinsate to the spray tank. Never mix the products as concentrates before adding to the tank.
    • Add the products when required in a tank-mixture singly to the spray tank in the formulation type order of Buffer and/or Ammonium Sulfate; Roundup PowerMax SL; YAMATO® 480 SC; Mesotrione 480 SC; Atrazine/Terbuthylazine 600 SC; wetting agent.
    • For Roundup PowerMax-containing applications add 2 % ammonium sulfate, such as Velocity Glifo, to water, ensuring proper mixing prior to adding herbicides. Add Roundup PowerMax if required and then the other tank-mix products. Do not add wetting agents.
    • For all tank-mixes half-fill the spray tank with clean water and under constant agitation add the required amount of the first relevant product. Continue filling the spray tank with water and add the required amount of complementary herbicide product/s, with the last one being added just before the tank is filled to its final full volume level.

    • Use a spray volume of 200 /ha (minimum) to 300 /ha to ensure even spray distribution. Note however that a lower spray

volume of 100 to 125 /ha should be used in mixtures which contain Roundup PowerMax, to comply with requirements on that label.

    • Keep the chemicals in continuous suspension by maintaining continuous agitation during mixing and before and during spraying.
    • Tank mixtures must be sprayed out immediately and should not be allowed to stand in the spray tank overnight. After the spraying operation, flush out spraying equipment thoroughly.
    Application

Good results are obtained using flat-fan spray nozzles to ensure even spray distribution.

Spray application equipment must be in good working order and must be accurately calibrated prior to and during application of YAMATO® 480 SC to give the desired coverage for that particular method of application. Regular checking during spraying is essential.

YAMATO® 480 SC can be applied by means of a tractor drawn boom sprayer or equivalent equipment fitted with flat-fan spray nozzles providing even distribution of the spray mixture on the target area.

Volume: All pre-emergence or post-emergence applications of YAMATO®  480 SC or YAMATO®  480 SC tank-mixes should be done with a spray volume of 200-300 /ha, except that spray volume should be 100 to 125 /ha for tank-mixes including Roundup PowerMax.

For use restrictions, warnings, follow-on crops waiting periods and complete label particulars and also list of weeds controlled consult the relevant labels of products complementary to YAMATO® 480 SC.

    Technical Details & Test Data

    Compatibility

    YAMATO® 480 SC is compatible with glyphosate [Roundup PowerMax® – Reg. No. L7769] and Atrazine/Terbuthylazine 600 SC [Terbuzine 600 SC – Reg. No. L5829; Combo-Zine 600 SC – Reg. No. L6713] and mesotrione [Cantron® 480 SC – Reg. No. L8365].

The compatibility of YAMATO® 480 SC in combination with complementary products may be influenced by the formulation of the products involved as well as the quality of the water. Since the formulation of these products may change without the knowledge of PHILAGRO SOUTH AFRICA (PTY) LIMITED and the quality of water may vary from farm to farm, a physical compatibility test should always be carried out prior to application.

Small quantities of the products to be used, in the correct proportion, should first separately be diluted with water and then mixed together while constantly stirring to check for any signs of incompatibility eg. flocculation etc.

Take note that both low spray volumes and cold water may decrease compatibility of tank mixtures.

When YAMATO® 480 SC is used prior to; subsequent to or in conjunction with any other agricultural remedy all full Warnings, Precautions, Restrictions for Use and Directions for Use on the labels of those other remedies must also be read and fully complied with.

Re-entry: Do not enter treated area within one day after treatment unless wearing protective clothing.

    • In case of poisoning call a doctor and show him/her this label.

Although this remedy has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, the registration holder does not warrant that it will be efficacious under all conditions because the action and effect thereof may be affected by factors such as abnormal soil, climatic and storage conditions; quality of dilution water; compatibility with other substances not indicated on the label and the occurrence of resistance of weeds against the remedy concerned as well as by the method, time and accuracy of application. The registration holder furthermore does not accept responsibility for damage to crops, vegetation, the environment or harm to man or animal or for lack of performance of the remedy concerned due to failure of the user to follow the label instructions or to the occurrence of conditions which could not have been foreseen in terms of the registration. Consult the supplier or registration holder in the event of any uncertainty.

    Precautions
    • Wear protective clothing (overalls, face shield, rubber gloves and boots) when handling the concentrate and handling or applying the product.
    • Avoid inhalation of fumes or spray mist.
    • Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. In case of contamination, flush immediately with water.
    • Do not eat, drink or smoke whilst mixing and applying or before washing hands and face and change of clothing.
    • Wash contaminated clothing daily.
    • Avoid drift onto other crops, grazing, desirable vegetation, rivers, dams or other areas not under treatment.
    • Immediately after YAMATO® 480 SC application, the spray equipment must be cleaned thoroughly to prevent contamination of subsequent applications, using the following method:
    • iii. Drain tank completely then flush tank, boom and hoses with clean water.  Drain again.
    • iii. Fill the tank with clean water and add household ammonia (contains 3% active) at the rate of 1 liter every 100 liter water. Circulate the ammonia solution in the tank, boom and hoses for at least 15 minutes.
    • iii. To remove traces of ammonia, rinse the tank with clean water and flush through booms and hoses.
    • iv. Repeat steps (ii) and (iii).
    • iv. Nozzles and filters must be removed and cleaned separately with ammonia solution at the same concentration as above.
    • vi. Any contamination on the outside of the spraying equipment should be removed by washing with clean water.
    • Do not spray, drain or flush equipment on or near desirable trees or plants or where their roots may extend. Water used for cleaning must not be allowed to contaminate untreated areas.
    • Triple rinse empty containers as follows: invert each container over the spray or mixing tank and allow draining for at least 30 seconds after the flow has slowed down to a drip. Thereafter rinse the container three times with a volume of clean water equal to a minimum of 10 % of that of the container. Add the rinsate to the contents of the spray tank before destroying the container in the prescribed manner.
    • Destroy empty container by perforation and flattening and dispose of it in a safe way.
    • Never re-use empty container for any other purpose.
    • Prevent contamination of food, feedstuff, drinking water and eating utensils.
    Resistance Warning

YAMATO® 480 SC is a group code K3 herbicide. Any weed population may contain plants naturally resistant to YAMATO® 480 SC and other group code K3 herbicides. The resistant plants can eventually dominate the plant population if these herbicides are used repeatedly. These resistant plants may not be controlled by YAMATO® 480 SC or any other group code K3 herbicides.

    To delay herbicide resistance:

    • Avoid exclusive repeated use of herbicides from the same herbicides group code. Alternate or tank mix with products from different herbicide group codes.
    • Integrate other control methods (chemical, cultural, biological) into control programs.

For specific information on resistance management contact the registration holder of this product.
