PELEMOL® 9512 is the ester formed by the reaction of Isoamyl Alcohol and Lauric Acid; it is 100% vegetable derived and 100% active. PELEMOL® 9512 has sensorial properties similar to silicone and its broad solubility range suggests it can be used as a silicone replacement. It adds a silky feel to fragrances and acts as a skin conditioning agent, leaving skin with a dry, soft feel. It also enhances the spreadability of pigments where it imparts a silicone-like feel.

PELEMOL® 354 is the triester formed by the reaction of Glycerin with Oleic Acid. It finds application as an occlusive skin conditioning agent as well as in bath and makeup products. Use concentrations can vary from 2 or 3% to as much as 10%.

PECOSIL® G-600 is a slightly hazy silicone gel that provides luxurious emolliency, spreadability, and cushion to all skin products. It leaves the skin with a pronounced silky, powdery, light waxy elegance. PECOSIL® G-600 is not water soluble and acts as a moisture barrier that contributes to softness in all makeup, skin and sunscreen products. The sensory properties contributed by PECOSIL® G-600 are proportional to the concentration of PECOSIL® G-600 used and can vary from 2 – 50%.

PECOSIL® DDL is the diester resulting from the esterification of Dimethiconol and Lactic Acid. It is a 100% active liquid that spreads easily on skin leaving the skin with a silicone-like, silky soft “feel”. In addition to its use in skin creams and lotions its use is also clearly indicated in haircare products for conditioning and manageability as well as in lipstick and makeup products. It is postulated that enzymes found in the skin’s epidermis will hydrolyze esters and free up the corresponding alpha-hydroxyl acid so it may perform its exfoliating affect. PECOSIL® DDL not only provides moisturization through a semi-occlusive barrier effect, but also delivers the alpha-hydroxyl acid (lactic acid) via a slow release owing to the skin’s own natural esterase.

Pumpkin Seed Oil, known for its skin moisturizing properties is now available as BIOGEL Pumpkin Seed Butter. BIOGEL® Pumpkin Seed Butter results from the controlled hydrogenation of Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin Seed Oil). It is 100% active and 100% vegetable derived. BIOGEL® Pumpkin Seed Butter also functions as an emollient skin conditioning product and is useful in hair dressing preparations. BIOGEL® Pumpkin Seed Butter is NOT a blended product.

They are soft pastes that melt at skin temperature, spread easily and are very emollient and non-greasy. As can be seen from the attached solubility table, they are generally miscible in oils, silicones, and esters. They can be liquefied with vegetablebased esters such as PELEMOL P-810 (Propanediol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate) to form liquid 100% vegetable-based emollients. The butters can be emulsified with PELEMOL P-1263 (Polyglyceryl-10 Hexaoleate (and) Polyglyceryl-6 Polyricinoleate) to form w/o emulsions which can invert to o/w as the water phase increases. PELEMOL® EC is composed of the ethyl esters of Canola Oil acids. It is a clear, 100% vegetable derived and 100% active liquid. Surprisingly, PELEMOL® EC exhibits a distinct silicone-like “feel” on skin and, in particular, much like cyclomethicone D5 and low viscosity silicone fluids. Moreover, the solubility profiles for PELEMOL® EC versus cyclomethicone D5 are virtually identical. This suggests ease of formulation and perhaps one-to-one replacement. The refractive indexes for cyclomethicone D5 (1.397) and PELEMOL® EC (1.461) suggest that PELEMOL® EC will provide enhanced sheen in formulations. Use levels can range from 2 – 20%.

PELEMOL® EHEMP is a product of the ethyl esters of Hemp Seed Oil. It is an extremely dry ester with a slight initial silicone feel that becomes dry on rub-in. PELEMOL® EHEMP feels like cyclopentasiloxane, D5 and is an effective D5 substitute. The sensory perception is that it is gone, as is D5. PELEMOL® EHEMP is 100% active and 100% vegetable derived. It is not a blended product. As a dry ester, PELEMOL® EHEMP finds application in skin creams and lotions, and makeup products. Use levels can vary from 5 – 30%.

Phenyl Trimethicone is a short chain silicone particularly suitable for hair conditioning where it provided sheen and softness and as an occlusive skin conditioning agent. It is non-oily, not greasy, and provides an emollient silky feel on skin. The sensory properties of PECOSIL® PTF also dictate its use in sunscreens, makeup products for color cosmetics and in stick deodorants.

COSCAP® PME-3 is the product resulting from the propoxylation of Myristyl Alcohol with an average of 3 mols of propylene glycol. It is an extremely emollient product and finds application in a variety of skin and makeup products – skin creams, lotions, gels, toners, eye shadows, for example. COSCAP® PME-3 has an extremely broad solubility range making this ether very formulating friendly. Solubility data can be found in this Phoenomenon.

PELEMOL® 123 is Oleyl Linoleate Linolenate, derived from the esterification of Oleyl Alcohol. It is 100% active Oleyl Linoleate/Linolenate as major components with 5-10% Oleyl alcohol esters of other C16-C20 fatty acids. It is 100% vegetable derived and 100% active. PELEMOL® 123 has a pronounced silicone-like, silky, emollient skin feel and leaves the skin soft and supple after washing with detergent. PELEMOL® 123 has also been demonstrated to enhance hair color when added to hair dyes at levels as low as 0.3% of the hair dye formulations. It contributes to hair volumizing and conditioning.

PECOREZ® MCTS-30 is a unique water-based polymer specifically designed for water-based nail lacquers and polishes. PECOREZ® MCTS-30 will accept most organic/inorganic pigments and dyes. PH control (7.8-8.2) during formulation will maintain the full suspension/solution nature of the system and will optimize processing time. However, surfactants may be incorporated to achieve stable formulations outside of this pH range. Nail enamel and clear coats based on PECOREZ® MCTS-30 exhibit very rapid dry and are usually dry to the touch within minutes. The film will continue to build strength for 24 hours.The ability to remove enamels based on PECOREZ® MCTS-30 with conventional nail polish removers is novel to this new technology given the strong surface properties of the film. PECOREZ® MCTS-30 is not subject to the permanent viscosity change from particle swelling/freeze thaw failure which is typical of many water-borne products. PECOREZ® MCTS-30 is surfactant free and is offered at the highest practical solids level and lowest practical pH so as to provide maximum formulating alternatives. Typical of this class of polymers, PECOREZ® MCTS-30 may show an increase in viscosity over time due to the loss of volatiles. Adjusting the solids level and/or pH under agitation will restore PECOREZ® MCTS-30 to its original condition.
