- What is Vermicompost?
Vermicompost (internationally known as Vermicompost) is a kind of natural organic fertilizer. Worms feed by transporting various organic wastes (animal manure, straw, straw, household fruit and vegetable wastes, garden leaf wastes, sawdust, waste paper, etc.) that are thrown into the soil and begin to rot, to the channels they open in the soil at night. As a result of their feeding, humus is formed from their feces and this humus is a product used in the agricultural industry as organic fertilizer and soil conditioner.
- Vermicompost Benefits
100% Natural
It does not contain chemicals and does not need to be mixed with any additives. It does not have a toxic effect against plants and does not contain weed seeds. It helps to regulate the structure of the soil.Easy to Absorb by Plants
Contrary to chemical fertilizers, vermicompost does not easily run off the soil thanks to the worm liquid it contains. Maximum benefit is provided as the plants benefit from the nutrients in the fertilizer for a longer period of time. It regulates the pH of the soil. Phosphorus, Potassium, Iron etc. that cannot be used by the plant. It makes plant nutrients soluble in the soil and facilitates their absorption by the plant.Microorganisms
The compost, which passes through the bodies of the worms, enriches with valuable bacteria and microbes, increasing the resistance of plants against diseases. It also provides repellent properties against some plant insects. It provides reclamation of soils polluted with chemicals and lost their vitality. In this way, it reduces the need for chemical fertilizer use.Healthy Plants
With the use of vermicompost, plants become healthier and the need for pesticides is reduced. It helps the formation of higher quality products by accelerating the development of the plant. It ensures the production of ecological natural products that do not contain any substances harmful to human health. Significantly increases shelf life. Vermicompost does not pollute the water, air and soil, and there is no nitrate residue in the plants grown with this fertilizer.Helps Plants Grow
The hormones contained in the worm castings make the plants healthier and stronger. Upon enrichment of the soil in terms of plant nutrients, it increases the yield and has the feature of revitalizing the soil. It accelerates the maturation period by 1-2 weeks in some plants.Saving on water
Vermicompost has a colloidal structure and has a water holding capacity of nine times its weight. This situation makes a big difference in drought. Water is kept at an organic level and tends to evaporate slowly. For this reason, plants benefit from water at the maximum level. Soil retains soluble mineral substances and moisture better. In this way, the amount of irrigation is reduced by 40%.Slow Nutrient Release
With worm castings, nutrients are retained and released slowly. Thus, plants can get the nutrients they need for a longer period of time. It provides resistance to frost in plants and roots.
