Praan Naturals Candelilla Wax is a hard, brittle, vegetable wax supplied in pellet form. Candelilla wax is the exudate found on the leaves of a small shrub native to Mexico and the southwest. It can be used as a substitute for beeswax or carnauba wax. It is softer than carnauba wax and is often used to make candles. Candelilla wax in commonly used in lip products, stick formulations, body butters, creams, lotions, hair pomades and other products requiring stiffness. Candelilla Wax ranges in color from light yellow to light brown. Our current lot of Candelilla Wax Pellets is light brown and is darker than our previous lot. Pellet size ranges between approximately 1/8 Inch to 1/4 Inch in Diameter.

The Cacao Tree, Theobroma cacao is a small to mid-size tropical evergreen tree with large, beautiful glossy leaves. The tree produces pod-shaped fruits with colorful red, orange and yellow hard exterior shells that protect the numerous cacao beans that are housed inside. These dark, flavorful beans are rich in nutritive fatty acids, minerals, polyphenols and Vitamin E. The beans are used to produce cocoa butter, cocoa powder and chocolate. Cocoa Butter has been used within skin and hair care for centuries, originally by those that live within the tropical regions abundant with cacao trees. Traditionally, the butter has been used to soothe, protect and moisturize skin that has been exposed to harsh elements. Praan Naturals Deodorized Cocoa Butter is a premium quality, 100% natural butter. It is expeller pressed from cacao beans and its composition includes highly stable, natural saturated lipids that give the butters long shelf life. It has been deodorized to remove the chocolate aroma and has been decolorized to make it white.

Carnauba wax is a very hard, light yellow, high melt vegetable wax supplied in flake form. Carnauba wax is derived from the leaves of the carnauba palm, native to Brazil. This wax is extremely hard and is used to produce a glossy finish in automotive waxes, shoe polishes and floor and wood polishes. It is also used in tablet and candy coatings. Carnauba wax is often used in conjunction with beeswax or candelilla in food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic products. Carnauba wax flakes can be used in lip products, stick formulations, body butters, creams, lotions and hair pomades.

Bayberry Wax, sometimes known as Myrtle Wax, is a vegetable wax derived from the bayberry fruit. It is among the most hard to find of vegetable waxes, but has a long history in the use of making natural tapered candles. Cosmetic formulators and personal care artisans however, are discovering its use as a vegan substitute for Beeswax (Beeswax cannot be used by those who are vegan). We recommend that you test your formulations as you may need more or less Bayberry Wax to achieve the same texture as when using beeswax. Praan Naturals Bayberry Wax is sold in convenient pellets. Pellets allow for easy measuring and consistent melting. The color of Babyberry Wax can vary from lot to lot, but it is typically sage to olive green in color. The wax possesses a sweet, rich and distinctive aroma.
