Application
  • Coverage between 200-500 sq ft./gal (Note: coverages will vary depending on porosity of substrate and application type.
  • Suitable for Interior and Exterior conditions.
  • Primer will dry to use in 20 - 45 minutes, depending on application type and substrate porosity.
Installation

Suitable Substrates

  • Gypsum
  • Other Substrates

Surface Preparation - Gypsum concrete shall be in place a minimum of 28 days. Gypsum concrete shall be installed in compliance with industry standards. Substrate temperatures should be between 40°F and 90°F. Gypsum concrete shall be structurally sound, dry, clean, and free of dirt, oils, grease, paint, sealer compounds, laitance, and other similar bond inhibiting materials.

Moisture Content - Follow ASTM F2170, Standard Test Method for Determining Relative Humidity in Concrete Floor Slab Using in situ Probes by using the Rapid RH by Wagner Electronics. The Rapid RH is an accurate relative humidity probe that significantly decreases the time it takes to measure moisture. RH should not exceeding 80%. Moisture meters can be used to determine approximate Moisture Content (MC) and determine where to place RH tests. When a moisture meter is required use a pin invasive type such as a Delmhorst model G-79 or Delmhorst BD2100. (On the model BD2100, make sure you are on Scale 3 “gypsum,” then use the digital display only, do not use the color coded LED indicators). If pour is over 1-1/2" thick, use insulated pins in drilled holes at various points and thicknesses.

Priming: Stir or shake PROFLEX® Primer thoroughly. Apply primer with a long nap roller, brush, or spray application. Apply evenly at 300-400 sq.ft. per gallon, with 100% surface coverage. Allow primer to dry satisfactorily (20-45min, surface is tacky, but does not transfer when touched) Note: The primer does not serve as an adhesive, over-application of primer will increase drying times and may compromise the overall bondability of membrane to the substrate.

Clean Up wet product with a damp cloth, dried product may be scraped up and cleaned with mineral spirits.

Product Limitations

  • All substrates shall be clean, dry, and free from dirt, oil, loose paint, sealers, or other curing compounds. Refer to PROFLEX® application methods for specific instructions.
  • Dry times will increase in the presence of high humidity conditions.
  • Some substrates and concrete boards may not be suitable for application of primer. Contact PROFLEX® technical support and the specific product manufacturer for recommendations.
  • Applied primer should not be left uncovered for an extended period of time.
