MICACLAD F.C combines high-aspect ratio reinforcing cosmetic grade micas with the added advantage of an FDA compliant pigment sealed with an FDA compliant binding system. The result is a safe non-dispersing pigment, a vibrant color enhancement to the particle creating effects ranging from a subtle uster to a full simulated stone, the opacity of the flakes is sufficiently high to retain the reflectance in both aqueous and polymer based systems. Giving color fast pigment dispersions on a reinforcing mica particle could reduce raw material costs dramatically.

Product Highlights
  • MICACLAD F.C can be utilized in a variety of applications from decorative coatings to thermoset and thermoplastic molding products. For applications requiring more stringent specifications, Micaclad can be manufactured in custom colors or with unique particle distributions. Usual loading levels are 1 to 5 percent
  • MICACLAD F.C is created with a delaminated particle. Delamination is a form of mechanically wet grinding the mica to create the thinnest particle possible while retaining the opacity and stability of the mineral. Creating a delaminated particle has tremendous benefits in compounding and both injection and rotational molding - including physically better flexibility, elasticity during production and ease on the equipment use. The aspect ratio is considerably higher with delaminated micas then normal mica particulates creating a significant improvement with dispersing and surfacing within the mold.
  • Stable to most environmental conditions and withstanding temperatures above 500°F.
