Protacide™ Na3 EDTA is a chelating agent, commonly used to sequester free-metal ions in finished products to prevent undesired reactions within the formulation.

Protachem™ TN is a skin conditioning ester that offers light conditioning and leaves a soft silky feeling on both skin and hair. It is ideal for use in skin care, hair care, sun care, color cosmetics, baby care and bath products.

Protachem™ ISL (Isostearyl Linoleate) is a medium viscosity plant derived ester with bifunctional properties (emolliency and moisturization). It is an unusual emollient that combines the non-occlusive lubricity of a branched chain monoester with the full-bodied non-oily characteristics of a fatty acid ester. Protachem ISL is derived from Isostearyl alcohol and linoleic acid. Linoleic acid is required for maintenance of cutaneous barrier function. In insufficient amounts, skin becomes scaly, exhibits hyperproliferation and increased trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL).

Protachem™ ISP is a non-comedogenic, saturated liquid emollient with an extraordinary skin feel and low freezing point. It is virtually colorless, odorless, and tasteless, which suggests its use in lip products. In stick formulations, Protachem ISP provides excellent pour and mold-release properties, while imparting remarkable spreadability. It functions as a co-solubilizer for silicones and waxes in sunscreens, and may be considered to be an “oil-free” ingredient for cosmetics. When incorporated into creams or lotions at levels as low as 3%, Protachem ISP imparts a light, silky emolliency, eliminating the greasy feel of mineral oil or other heavier esters. Protachem ISP is derived from renewable, non-animal source raw materials which is a real plus in today’s rapidly evolving consumer marketplace.

Pro-Aqua ISL (Isosteareth-200 Linoleate) is the sister product to our ever popular specialty emollient, Protachem ISL (Isostearyl Linoleate) which has been proven to deliver long-term moisturization to dry skin. Due to the highly lipophilic nature of the Protachem ISL, this product was limited to use in emulsions and anhydrous systems until now.

Protachem™ SPCA is the sodium salt of 2-pyrrolidone-5-carboxylic acid, enzymatically derived from glutamic acid (an amino acid) and is sold as a 50% aqueous solution. It is commonly referred to as the Natural Moisturizing Factor, Sodium PCA occurs naturally in human skin and is responsible for binding moisture to the cells. Sodium PCA is a high performance humectant that can hold several times its weight in water. These water binding properties make Protachem SPCA an ideal moisturizer for skin and hair care products.

Protachem™ OMC, also known as Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, is an oil and alcohol soluble, colorless and odorless UV absorber used in combination with other UV filters to enhance SPF value. It is an FDA approved active for sunscreens, with a maximum use level of 7.5%. With its SPF enhancement and UV absorption benefits, it is an ideal ingredient for personal care applications, especially in sun care products such as sunscreen creams. Additionally, it is REACH compliant and can be labeled as odor-free.

Protachem™ AVO is a product that consists of avobenzone, which acts as a sunscreen agent that absorbs UVA rays that cause skin aging. It is oil-soluble and is commonly used in cosmetic applications to prevent discoloration caused by exposure to light. Protachem™ AVO is an FDA-approved active ingredient for sunscreens, and it is typically used in conjunction with a photostabilizer, such as octocrylene. The recommended usage level for Protachem™ AVO is up to 3% in over-the-counter (OTC) sunscreens.
