- Application
- PROX® ES 117 is useful in the preparation of water-borne epoxy emulsions. Conventional emulsifiers typically reduce the water resistance of films formed upon curing the emulsion. The reactive nature of PROX® ES 117 improves the water resistance properties of the epoxy emulsions films.
- Method of Use and Recommended Levels
Water based liquid epoxy system
- Liquid epoxy resin (Epon 828, DER 331) = 55.5
- PROX® ES 117 = 5.6
- Heat to 80 – 85° C under stirring, than add slowly under high speed stirring Water =38.9
- Total =100
Water based solid epoxy system
- Solid epoxy resin (Epicote 1001) =40.6
- Reactive solvent (diglycidyl ether of butanediol) =2.0
- Heat to 90° C under stirring then add PROX® ES 117 =8.0
- Heat water to 80° C before its introduction, then add it slowly under high speed stirring Water =48.4
- Cool to room temperature then add respectively Methoxy propanol= 10.0
- SYNTHRO®-THIX OPS =1.0
